"Given what appears to be an older building, it’s been maintained very well. Room was clean. Closet door was off track, but that was easily remedied. The best part of our stay was Berta, front desk associate. She was AMAZING!!!!! So friendly, out going, gave great information, and was knowledgeable about the area and things to do. She was very bright and cheery. She worked til 11pm the night we checked in and was back in the early morning, still with a smile on her face and in good humor. She made conversation easy. :) This was a great property for a girls weekend away, staying two nights. We have the 2 bedroom suite. It was at the end of the hall, very quiet (except for sirens outside window one morning), and spacious. it was located in a more industrial part of town and felt very safe. Nice grounds and had we visited a few weeks later than we did, we could’ve utilized the outside patio and fireplace. We look forward to using that next time. Thank you!!!"

"3-star property with 5-star staff. The hotel and rooms could use a refresh for sure, but I wouldn’t want to deter anyone from staying here especially as an individual traveller. The staff were all extremely friendly and help"

"Beautiful hotel in Birmingham, an upscale area With restaurants and shops. I would call the Townsend a 4.5 hotel, not quite a Ritz, but way above a nice Marriott. The bed was the most comfortable bed ever, the staff responsive, the room well designed and the bathroom lovely. The shower was not strong. "

"For the most part our stay was great. We had what we needed, however Saturday morning as we were all trying to shower and get ready, we did not have enough hot water and most of us had to take cold showers. I would recommend an on demand water heater to accommodate the number of guests and showers. Also, the hot tub was about 6 inches short on water and we couldn’t run the jets. "
