"We were only in town for a quick stop over on our road trip, but this place is a gem. Very responsive and friendly owner who kept the camper clean and very well decorated. The town itself is quaint and locals are sweet and talkative. Gorgeous views from the camper, great for watching the horses graze while sipping a cup of coffee. We were there during a full moon but I would expect the stargazing to be incredible on a clear dark night."
Country Elegance on 1.4 acres, subdivision common access to Yellowstone River
10/10 Excellent
"This is a fantastic property and the perfect spot for us to rest up after each day at our yearly family reunion site in Shields Valley. We have rented vacation homes for years now, and this is by far one of the best we've had! Very clean and well laid out with a great kitchen for meal preps. Our reunion took up 10-12 hours of our time each day, so we didn't get to utilize this excellent property and its beautiful surroundings like we wanted to, but we'll allow time on our next trip to take full advantage."
"I really can't put into words how amazing this place is! The owners are simply fabulous, and are extremely responsive. The cabin is a perfect blend of rustic and modern amenities, with the Montana sunsets and sunrises, your mind will be blown at the beautiful skies each night and morning.Big timber is an adorable town which is close by, and the cabin is close enough to many other attractions. We hiked, camped, and fished close by, and then we were able to come back to our calm and peaceful cabin for a wonderful night. We are already looking forward to our next visit! "

Sagebrush - Log cabin secluded in a mountain canyon in the Crazy Mountains

"Great place to relax among the beautiful mountains of Montana! I definitely recommend it if you want to stay away from the hustle of city life! Be mentally prepared for the 30-minute gravel road drive to get to this place, though!"
The Shepherd's Nook, a private apartment near Yellowstone & Bridger Bowl.
10/10 Excellent
"Judson was a great host and Shepherds Nook is a real bargain and value for those who want to get away from it all. But before you book, you need to consider the following:1- This place is remote - about 25 minute drive off highway 89 on narrow gravel road, down to dirt in some places - best to have all wheel drive vehicle because road can get difficult if wet from sudden downpour.2- unusual layout - basement with other folks upstairs - but on a slope with good size windows for light, air and views - very comfortable king bed with nice linens - rustic amenities with enough space for efficiency and comfort. 3- Bathroom is in the garage which sounds like a problem but is really no big deal once you are used to it. Good shower. Clean. Plenty of towels. Just plan on flip flops or other foot covering. 4- Critters might show up. You are in the wilds of Montana so don’t leave doors open.Bottom line - Shepherds Nook is a great place at an affordable price for anyone who wants rustic but comfortable digs to chill and relax in the outback of Montana. I recommend bringing supplies to minimize travel for food etc. It is not the middle of nowhere, but you can imagine it from here."
"Super clean cabin with everything we needed before our trip to the Beartooth Backcountry. The beds were super comfortable and we enjoyed the views from the porch. We were close to Big Timber and were able to enjoy a couple of the local eateries. I highly recommend Big Timber Bakery for breakfast. You can't go wrong. Our host was great with communication and we hope to be back again. Thanks for having us!"
