Wonderful hidden gem. Beautifully restored, with multiple quality dining options on site. A lot of character, and in one of the nicest villages you'll ever visit. Crazily good price when I booked (for July).
On second thoughts, stay away. Don't spoil it. It's too good for the likes of you. ;-)
Receptionist wasn’t very friendly or welcoming . She was quite brusque with us when problems were pointed out. Our room needed a deep clean - it was very dusty everywhere- however, beds and bathroom were clean apart from dust behind bathroom door. Didn’t sleep well at all because of the constant noise from some sort of extractor running in the maid’s room next door. No one asked if we enjoyed our stay so I didn’t bother telling them when we checked out, but I won’t be returning.
Lovely hotel in the centre of Comrie. Staff super-attentive. We ate there two nights - food was exceptional on both occasions, and very reasonably priced.
Lovely hotel. Plenty parking spaces. Great bar area in which to sit at night with some drinks albeit a tad expensive. Unfortunately the hotel restaurant was closed as were a few other dining options so we had a very limited choice.
Very lovely hotel in the heart of a little town. Clean, quiet and confortable. The restaurant was closed due to gas leak. They notified us by email a few days ahead. Upon arrival, they told us we could to bring take out food from local place. We hate our pizza in the hotel bar and they nicely provided plates and crockery.
Every time we come back to the Royal, it never ceases to disappoint. The staff are the people who make this such a special and charming hotel. The warmest of welcomes and we were so well taken care of. Attentive and polite customer services, similar to that of Ashford Castle, that seems to be lost in many establishments these days. The only complaint we had, was that the bedroom was cold even with the small radiator up to its maximum temperature, and the fires had not been lit in the bar area or the library. (It was 5 degrees outside). The reason given was the chimneys hadn’t been swept. So bring jumpers and warm pyjammas!
Overall, though, I would always recommend this charming hotel, situated in the heart of glorious Perthshire. Food was great, good wines, board games in the library.
Just please have the fires lit, as would be expected in an old coach house, and to compliment the warm welcome that was given by the staff. The room was immaculate. And beautifully decorated. (Room 4- a twin)
Other restaurant to book within 5 minutes walk of the hotel, is the Deil’s Inn, and also the Deil’s Cauldron walk can be done easily from the hotel. Lots of lovely local shops and cafes within 2 minute walk. And if you are going to any events at Crieff Hydro, but would prefer the old style charm of a place, go to The Royal in Comrie, an easy drive to and from any events in Crieff.
Long live the Royal Hotel and all those who work there! Thank you for your kind hospitality.
