"Reception was excellent. Grounds/estate amazing, miles of walking and an historic church with a 900 or so old Yew. It is worth reading the history of the place, layers and layers of it. They take beautiful care of the property. I had a beautiful room with a beautiful view right out my doors and a little patio. They do host big events ie weddings and it is not as peaceful, so you may want to check if there is a big event - IF you are seeking more quiet. I would return in a blink. In general i have found Hand Picked Hotels is gracious and treats guests like the manor house staff would have treated the owners. part of the history includes the 1987 storm went thru there a interesting to look at what happened. convenient to Sheffiled Park but take time to walk at Buxted also"

"Stay overall was okay. Staff were nice enough and helpful just often difficult to locate at times. Hotel rooms in coach house outside were on the face of it nice. But then you quickly realise they are riddled with spiders and spider webs. Could also hear what sounded like rodents scratching through the night. The coach house is very old and I think this may add to the challenges. The wooden beams in areas were stuffed with loo roll where in were large spider nests and lots of webs. The food was actually good and decent selection of drinks. Parking is fine. Room other than huge amount of spiders webs and rodents were nice enough. I think it just must be a challenge for the age of the coach house possibly. Can’t speak for other rooms. "

"The location was very peaceful but close to many beautiful places National Trust etc. The bedroom was comfortably furnished with an excellent walk in shower. The lounge / dining area also was very comfortable with a lovely outlook. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. The host was friendly and informative. A really excellent place to stay."

"We had a week in Dairy Barn. It is stylish and cosy, with pretty much everything we needed. We used the hot tub 3 times, which was a lovely treat, especially as we could enjoy the amazing view of the sweeping countryside too. Next time, we will try to time it for warmer drier weather so we can enjoy sitting outside more. My only gripe is that the only soft seating in the lounge area is a sofa bed. They are notoriously hard to sit on, and this was no exception. As an older couple, we like to sit and read or watch TV in the evening. The sofa was painful to sit on for too long. I don't understand why they have a sofa bed in Dairy Barn, as you really couldn't fit more than 2 in it. So, if the owners see this... please change the sofa for a more comfortable slightly longer one. Thank you."

"Primrose Lodge has everything you could wish for. The space has been thoughtfully and stylishly designed and is extremely comfortable. Everything provided for here - comfortable bed, huge bath, well equipped kitchen and a very efficient wood burner, with a generous supply of logs, that kept us warm and toasty through the recent cold spell. The location is perfect - just a 5 minute drive from the pretty village of Mayfield or a 15 minute from Tunbridge Wells. Loads of great pubs and walks very close by. Our hosts couldn't have been more friendly and attentive."

" It’s in a very picturesque spot but for two of the three mornings from before 8am workman 2 flat back Lorrie’s and cars and vans parking and congregating noisily some 15 meters from the cottage windows. Men very interested in what was happening and plugging a kettle in on the drive around our car. In order for privacy, we had to reclose all the curtains. We felt we were in a builder’s yard. By 8:30 on Wednesday running machinery? Angle grinder, banging down empty barrows etc not restful. They could not help the lack of water in the taps and toilets but the works we could have been warned and decided to cancel or not. Seemingly they knew 2 days before and we were not warned. Oven details oh they are in the bureau ok why not say the only mention is in the content of the bureau in the inventory of the furnishings but not in the how things work. Everything way too high a set of steps with a handle would transform using the kitchen. The fully charged cordless vacuum cleaner was not there only a plug in tucked under a shelf. Ginny Best came to see us an hour before we left to say hallo and goodbye. When asked she said the men were due to be completed the previous week. I pointed out they are invasive it’s not restful and the angle grinder or whatever was very disturbing. Also, we lacked privacy and warning and wondered if our car had been scratched who was responsible. On the face of it very pleasant accommodation but too many do not do this or that and not enough consideration. "
