"If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind from the hustle and bustle of life, this is the place for you. Eight of us (and a dog) spent a week here, ages 8 weeks to 81 years old. There was something for everyone, canoeing, swimming, roasting smore's around the fire pit or just relaxing inside watching football on the television. Personally my favorite part was getting up early and drinking my coffee on the deck and watching the otters and racoons eat their breakfast. We stay in short term rentals often and this was the first stay that did not require contacting the host for any issues during our stay. The kitchen was well appointed and had everything we needed to fix three meals a day. The beds were all comfortable, the linens plentiful and quality. The cabin was kid and pet friendly. The communication with the host before and after our stay was prompt and informative. We visited the Crater of Diamond State Park, the Dino Dig and Tilingua's restaurant in Murfreesboro. All were a very close drive and the scenery was beautiful, especially the deer, which were plentiful around the cabin. Some in our group had a guided fishing trip on Lake Greeson which is also very close by. We are ready to go back and will definitely book River Retreat."

"We had an amazing time! I came for a girls trip but saved the listing for future family trips. There was lots to do at the house and the communication with the owners was top tier! Bonus: we had a good thunderstorm our second night that made the power go out.. thank goodness there was a generator! About 30 seconds after the power went out, we heard it kick on! We were the only ones with power for about 4 hours. This area is wifi dependent as the service is extremely in and out, we loved having the peace of mind of being able to at least check weather once the power was back on. "

"This was our first time staying outside of a hotel for an extended stay. Beautiful cabin out in a peaceful location, perfect for family bonding. The host was above and beyond helpful, courteous and personable, answering any questions throughout the booking process and during our stay."

"We had such a wonderful stay at this cabin in Murfreesboro! The location right on the river was absolutely perfect for our family. My son was thrilled to catch a bowfin right off the dock, which was a highlight of the trip. In the evenings, we gathered around the fire pit to make s’mores with the kids, it was the perfect way to end our days.The cabin itself was spotless and very well-equipped. The kitchen had everything we needed, and we cooked many meals there without once feeling like something was missing. The washer and dryer worked fantastically (and even smelled clean, which was such a relief, whew!). The bedrooms and bedding were fresh and comfortable, and we all slept great.We especially loved the canoe provided with the cabin. It came with paddles, and we were able to take it down the river several times, which made for some of our best memories of the trip. Having that right there at the cabin added so much to our stay.Beyond the cabin, there was plenty to do in the area. We searched for diamonds at Crater of Diamonds State Park three times (so much fun for the kids!), had dinner at Telinga’s Mexican Restaurant, and explored the Gypsy Underground and all the neat little shops around the roundabout in town.Everything about this stay was just right. From the clean, cozy cabin to the location and activities, it was the perfect stop for our family. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Murfreesboro!"
