"This is an older hotel that seems well maintained. Our room on the second floor was clean and quiet. There is a pool and hot tun that we did not use. We did use the exercise room which had one working treadmill, an elliptical machine and weights. The breakfast was standard with waffle maker, eggs, sausage and potatoes, along with the typical cereals and yogurt, muffins, etc. There's a nice grill and pub, next door where we enjoyed thoroughly a plate of nachos and $7 margaritas."

The Warrior Hotel, Autograph Collection
10/10 Excellent
"I have a thing for historic hotels and having grown up in Sioux City, the restoration of the Warrior from the decrepit fire hazard of my youth to a gem is nothing short of amazing. The Art Deco period details are spot on and my double queen room was sumptuously comfortable. I would have appreciated a selection of pillows, as mine was a giant brick in a pillowcase. The kind desk clerk told me (the next morning and too late!) that other pillows are available, so be sure to ask or bring your own! While I loved the soundtrack of 1920’s jazz hits in the common areas, a few days of this would feel like being an extra in “The Shining”. I peeked around corners to make sure no identical twins were watching. Downtown Sioux City is a bit threadbare, not the bustling and prosperous place of my youth with 2 Younkers stores and lots of specialty shops. If you are walking, it is best to go towards the river (there are some good breakfast/coffee places and the Court Avenue/4th Street area is cool). The Warrior is a good value for such a lovely hotel. I was impressed with the cleanliness—even the pool and hot tub were spotless. While I haven’t eaten in the restaurant, it is beautiful. Next time!"
