If you are visiting Wartburg Castle, there is no better place to stay. The walk through the woods to the castle is magical. The room is decorated comfortably with quality furniture. The breakfast is full of variety with a view to match. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant and were very pleased with the food and service.

Amazing time , we loved the Porsche decoration , and to top it , they had a classic Porsche meeting the day of our stay!
We will def stay again , when we are back in Germany! Super centric as well, so you can stop by on a long drive !

Hotel Herzog Georg is a real gem hidden in rural Germany. The size of room is larger than a standard European room and we were very happy to have 2 large size doubles for my wife and 15 yr old son. Breakfast was massive European style and quality was superb. Lots of walking opportunities around town with site seeing and hiking just a short drive away. The hotel was very clean. Staff was very friendly and bilingual. Room was very large and had a massive window over looking the city. No AC in the hotel but the large windows open and the cool night air was enough to cool off the bedroom at night. Would definitely stay again. The town was magnificent.

This was a backup choice after our 1st choice was not open for business via another booking service. It's further in the hills of Thuringia but we'll worth the drive. The rooms are well done and immaculate, the restaurant is incredible, and the staff does well with English only travelers for a remote location. If we are back in this area, I will look this one up.
