"This is a great parking around myvatan. Clean, nice and good breakfast. Only thing is the parking and the walk to hotel can be slippery, as the temperature drops below zero in morning and late evenings from September onwards. Also as this is in middle of nowhere, except good views nothing else to do."

"This hotel is just across the street from the psdudo craters, which is so nice to walk around.. Our room (and it looks like all rooms) have a lake view, which is absolutely beautiful. We hear the bird occasionally, which is so cute. The lobby has beautiful displays of various birds. For hot tub and sauna, the front desk provided robe and slipper. If the hot tub is hotter, and sauna was not broken, it would be an even better stay. The Islantic buffet is fantastic, I had salad and soup choice, and hubby had the full buffet. There are also small cubes of food like blood/liver pudding, dried fish, sheephead jelly and shark to try out. Though shark is not my thing, (hehe) it was great to dry various lcal foods in one place."

"The room exceeded our expectations. Prior to our arrival, we stayed at another hotel in Akureyri for two nights, then decided to stay one more night, but the other hotel had no available rooms and a worker there suggested Hotel Halond. As soon as we walked in, both my husband and I wished we found this place for all three nights because it is very spacious, clean, has a refrigerator, and a smart tv which the other hotel did not have. They also have a microwave in the common area which can be used. The only problem we had is since we booked through Expedia, I never received an email in my inbox OR available with my room and 4 digit code. I did have to turn on my phone data plan to call the hotel and someone immediately answered and gave me this information within 3 minutes. If they can figure out this one caveat, that would be amazing because I did read other reviews where this happened to them. So it must be a problem when booking through a 3rd party site. Other than this, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone as long as you are OK with a self service establishment that does not have many amenities or a restaurant. "
