A complete scam DO NOT BOOK HERE

I came to Detroit last minute to attend a funeral, only to be scammed out of nearly $500 and my entire trip being ruined and derailed. After absolutely no contact from the host, I arrived to the property only to see that someone is living there. I even spoke with the neighbors and they reassured me that I had indeed arrived at the correct address and that the occupants had been living there for over 2 years. Also, although I could see inside the property and saw that there were people inside, no one answered when I knocked on the door, which led me to believe that the occupants are the ones listing the property and pocketing the money from Vrbo without allowing people to stay. As a solo female traveler, this is possibly the worst experience I’ve ever had. This listing should be taken down from this website for scamming travelers and Vrbo should have a better researching process for property owners. Highly disappointed. Will never use Vrbo again.

Beware!!

We actually never got to stay at the property. Prior to the trip, I never heard from the host to get check in procedures despite messaging her through the vrbo app more than once. The phone number to call the host through the app was a wrong number. I called vrbo and they called the host and were able to reach her amd connected our call. She seemed genuinely shocked that I was reaching out. She said usually guests just called her once they reached the house to gain entry (how was I supposed to call when the only contact info I had was a wrong number?). She said she preferred meeting her guests at the property before they stayed and thatvshe would be there between 10 and 2 on our arrival day- which, again, how would I know thatbas she never reached out? The listing shows 3 as the check in time. I made arrangements to meet her at the home at noon and asked for a good number for her so I could call if we were running late, etc. We arrived at the property at exactly noon. No one appeared to be there. It actually looked as though someone lived there as there was a kid's bike on the porch, a broken stroller and other toys and trash in the front yard. I called the number she gave me and it was disconnected. I called VRBO again and they tried repeatedly to reach her through phone and email bit never got a reply either. We ended up havg to rent a hotel room for our stay.
