Your Detroit adventure begins in this 3-bedroom first floor unit of a 2-unit house. With 2 queen beds and a bunk bed, this comfortable retreat is perfect for families or friends looking for a pleasant stay. The neighborhood is generally quiet with friendly neighbors, families and children. Free off-street parking is available and street parking is also plentiful and free.
This unit has a GE oven with features such as no-preheat pizza baking and no-preheat air fryer. Air fryer pans and a pizza heating stone are provided to take advantage of these features. Most of the furniture is mid-century modern in design, some of which are vintage pieces.
The second floor unit is reserved for the owner, when in town, as he splits his time between Detroit and New York. Feel free to inquire as to whether he will be around during your stay.
The house is located in the Morningside community on Detroit's East Side. This neighborhood has gone through a lot of difficult times, as evidenced by the many vacant lots, but is now being rejuvenated with increased home owner occupancy, establishment of local urban farming initiatives and the recent award of a city revitalization grant along East Warren Avenue. The property owner is actively engaged with community organizations and is working to develop some on-site agricultural production that will be open and available to visiting guests. (Please pardon any mess in the vacant lot in the meantime).
There are a number of nice restaurants and bars along E Warren Ave. I recommend checking out Morningside Cafe for breakfast and coffee. East Warren Cafe is a cozy bar for drinks and maybe watching a local sporting event on tv. The Savoy is a more upscale restaurant further down Warren that has a long history in the neighborhood. There are grocery stores (Public Market) and laundromats along Warren as well. Most of these locations are to the east (a left turn onto Warren from the house).
We're happy to assist with any questions you may have before or during your stay.
