About this property
Alturas 1: New Modern 1BR Cabin, Big Windows for Big Mountain Views
This is a beautiful, new cabin with modern touches, clean lines, and spectacular mountain views through massive windows. The cabin takes its name from one of the peaks you'll see right out your window, Alturas 1 (Our 2 BR cabin is named for the next peak to the north.... Alturas 2). Alturas 1 is a 1 BR cabin with a convertible sofa in the front room to accommodate up to 3 guests.
There's more than enough elbow room on this (over) 10-acre property and the neighbors and noise are plenty far away. Use it as a base camp for your travel, biking, fishing, hunting, or skiing adventure or just get your chillax on. Come just to get away and use the Wi-Fi for watching movies or working remotely. MT Hwy 278 is part of the Pioneer Scenic Byway and "Big Hole Loop" with unrivaled access to hiking, fishing, snowmobiling, horseback riding, the RATPOD bike race, and world-class trout fishing on the Beaverhead and Big Hole Rivers (not to mention numerous small creeks and lakes to drive or hike to).
There are 3 cabins on the property situated in a similar orientation. Just north of this cabin is a 2 BR, 5 guest cabin. At the northern property boundary, is a sleek, spacious studio cabin called the Studio at Alturas. Look for our other listing or inquire via messages if a larger space is needed.
One pet is allowed in Alturas 1. There will be an extra pet fee paid upfront. A pet bed is required. Pets should also be kept off the furniture. If it is not possible to do so, you must provide a blanket for your pet to lie on.
You'll be situated a very short drive from Dillon, MT; a cute western town with roots in ag, railroading, and education. There are plenty of shops, fun restaurants, coffee shops, a brewery, and local happenings to satisfy travelers year round. Dillon is also home to to 1 of 5 Patagonia Outlets in the country as well as one of the biggest Labor Day celebrations around complete with rodeos, concerts, and a fair.
Cabin Has: Queen bed, futon sofa (single), wi-fi, tv, full kitchen, washer and dryer, pots/pans/place settings, coffee maker, shower (no bathtub), basic pantry items including tea, coffee, sugar, cooking spray, salt, pepper, other spices, and more. There is also a deck that is partially covered over the door for weather and partially open for stargazing. Trust me, you'll want to see the stars. The deck also has a propane firepit and Adirondack chairs.
What to do from here:
5 minutes from the Beaverhead River, 5 minutes from the gas station, under 10 minutes to the grocery store/restaurants, 16 miles to Bannack State Park (ghost town), 30 miles to the Big Hole River, 30 miles to Maverick Mountain Ski Area and Elkhorn Hot Springs, 37 miles to Crystal Park. 70 miles to Butte, MT, 2 hrs to Idaho Falls, ID, or to Salmon, ID, and an easy day trip to Ennis, MT and West Yellowstone to access Yellowstone Park.

I am on site sometimes, working in the newest cabin or staying in the RV (behind the new cabin, opposite of Alturas 1 Cabin) when guiding fly fishing in the area. I often travel and am not around as well. I'm more than happy to chat in person or give space if need be.
Located in Dillon, this cabin is in the mountains. This is a beautiful cabin with a stunning view of the mountains in the day and stars at night. The host was responsive and instructions were communicated very well. Everything I needed for an enjoyable stay was furnished. Thank you!
The cabin was well located for our stay in southern MT. It had everything we needed for a brief stay. The location is perfect for quiet relaxation with views in all directions of mountains and stars. We had a great time.
Was an absolutely perfect spot to get away and read and write. Nicely located just outside town and near a few sites very worth exploring. The breathtaking view each morning alone was worth the stay
Rented this cabin for my husband and his friend for their hunting trip in the area. This cabin was perfect! It was quaint, cozy and had everything they needed for their stay. The host was very responsive to any questions we had and was very easy to work with. The cabin was in a great location too, which was a bonus for the guys. We look forward to renting again!
The property is beautiful. The cabin is very clean and so cutely designed. It was very lovely with all of the comforts of home. We will for sure be back.
It was absolutely beautiful! We enjoyed the sunset and the sunrise. The cabin was clean, bed was comfortable. It was the perfect stay! Thank you! We would love to come back soon!
The cabin itself is great. Smooth check in and easy to deal with. Beautiful view and scenery. I, however, wanted to give a shout out to Nic. On the last night of our stay we got a call that my daughter’s grandfather had passed away. I explained to Nic she was having a very rough night and if it would be okay for us to check out late so I didn’t have to rush her in the morning. He was gracious and completely understanding.
