Home away from home.

My stay was satisfactory, I only needed a place to lay down and wash and for the price I couldn’t beat it, check in is always fast and convenient.

Very pleased

We reallyenjoyed staying here. It was very quiet considering being on a main strip. Was very clean and just what we needed after our long drive. We will definitely make this our go to when we travel that way again

My Stay

We come to Dover each year for a special event. We stay at First State Inn.This was our third year and we will continue to stay there. Good value for the money. It lacks the bells and whistles such as a pool and gym...we have no time for anyway...it is clean and the air is strong. Both the microwave and fridge worked. It was quiet. Many places to eat and/or shop nearby.

Manager & housekeeping was pleasant. My only complaint is that there was no room on 1st floor available. No elevator. Bed was very comfortable but pillows were flat. Microwave and mini refrigerator worked well.

A very nice clean mom and pop motel. The manager was very nice. Our room was fully mobility accessible. My wife who is in a wheelchair had no problems at all. Good A/C, fridge, micro. There was no coffee or breakfast but none was promised. There is a McDonalds next door for coffee and breakfast. Overall, this motel was an outstanding value.

The facility itself is dated and could use some renovation. The bed was huge and comfy, sheets/towels clean - only one bar of soap provided. TV, frig, microwave and A/C were all functional. Carpet needs to be shampooed. TP was cheap and thin. Office staff was hard to understand at check in, then we never saw any other employee. Got a smoking room which was GROSS!

Underwhelmed

The best part of the trip was the fact that I was able to check in at 11:00 at night, but aside from that nothing was really good about to stay. The bed was very loud and squeaky. The hot water in the shower was non-existent, very cold. The TV was extremely small and discolored. I probably won't be ever going back to the site

I’m going to rate this based on what the price is and not compare to higher priced hotels that I normally stay at. I was here for Amish bike ride. It was just me and I’m very easy going. The good: - Cost - Fast food. Walk to Wendy’s and McDonald’s are couple doors down. - Convenient stores. Wawa is 5 min drive. - Fairly quiet. I only saw a few cars parked there though. - Non smoking. I got non smoking room and no smell of smoke. - Air conditioner - worked. - No bugs. I didn’t see anything. - Microwave and fridge worked. - Parking - got space in front of room. It was a little empty though. - Businesses - it’s on a busy street so lots of other options if looking for something. Bad - No shampoo. I asked for and didn’t have. - There was dirty towel or was clean with dirt marks. - Visually looked clean but if look closely little dirty. There was actually some dog throw up or something in corner under chair. - Tv - not sure if expecting too much at this price point but tv had no HD. And seemed to only have access to basic channels. I gave it 4 stars based on the price. Would I stay here again - possible but may check out other cheap hotels down the street. I wouldn’t bring my family here unless needed to.
