The cottage takes its name from its seafaring past and the maritime traditions of Broughty Ferry. Once a thriving fishing village, Fisher Street was at the heart of the local industry, with cottages like this one home to fishermen and their families. In 1859, a Fitzroy Storm Barometer was sent to the community to help predict the weather, and in 1881, its readings famously helped save the Ferry fishing fleet from disaster. Today, that heritage is reflected in the cottage’s calm coastal feel and thoughtful design.
