We stop over at Duvauchelle, a small town on our way to Akaroa. It's on the Christchurch Akaroa Road at the tip of the Head Bay that is part of a much larger Duvauchelle Bay. The bay was so serene and peaceful, almost like a lake. You cannot see the horizon from here because the bay is almost surrounded by land...that's how unique the geography of this place is....the sea or the bay rather, has gone deep inwards into the land. Notice the names around here sounds very French. Not surprising because the areas around these parts of Akaroa were first settled by the French in the olden days.

"Definitely a tranquil oasis! A lovely property, close to all amenities that you could want; coffee shops, park, shops, walking trails etc. The hot tub in the lush garden was a welcome bonus. I highly recommend this stay."

"Lovely clean appartment. But parking was too tight. The kitchen was great but could be kitted out better with mixing bowls, chopping boards, scissors and paper towels. Loved the use of spa but temperature kept dropping. Couple extra towels for spa use would've been good. Overall a happy stay."

"We enjoyed the fact that it was very peaceful once we were in our unit. The water pressure in the shower has a great water pressure. The towels were fluffy and absorbent. The drink caddy was topped up daily. The safety aspect of handrails for the stairs and along the balcony was also appreciated especially when it had been raining. The undercover parking was also appreciated by us. Thank you for making our first bit to the South Island an amazing experience.
