Kong Chow Wui Koon (KCWK) is one of the oldest Chinese clan associations in Singapore. It was founded in 1840 by Xinhui clansmen who came from Guangdong’s Pearl River Delta. The KCWK has since its inception stressed the importance of culture and heritage in building a cohesive society. Hence,it has long opened its door to many talented and enthusiastic non-Xinhui clansmen. Well-known for its traditional Chinese martial arts, lion and dragon dance, as well as Cantonese opera, KCWK members regularly perform both locally and abroad, and have done the clan association proud by winning numerous national and international awards.

In July 2013, the Kong Chow Cultural Centre (KCCC) was established. This ‘living’ museum, equipped with graphic exhibits and multimedia kiosks, showcases its unique cultural characteristics - featuring artifacts, dynamic display of traditional Chinese martial arts, lion and dragon dances, and Cantonese Opera, as well as interactive hands-on activities. KCCC reflects the process onhow the Xinhui clansmen as immigrants have integrated into multi-racial and multi-cultural Singapore, and its important contributions in nation-building.This lively Cultural Centre will let visitors feel the past come alive amid on-going activities of the clan association and its robust traditional cultural events. Here visitors will be immersed in a truly Cantonese cultural atmosphere.

"after a ten hour flight, a five hour layover and another seven hour flight, we finally reached our destination. we arrived at changi international airport around 7:00 am, exhausted and in need of a shower. we made our way to the hotel and were especially grateful they accommodated us with an early check in at 1:00 pm, two hours ahead of the usual 3:00 pm. we were able to leave our luggage while we explored the area and got some traditional singapore breakfast. the entrance to the hotel felt a bit unusual, it seemed like we were walking in through the back, sharing the driveway with cars. there were lots of neon purple lights, which made the space feel more like an after club lounge than a hotel lobby. once inside, we were pleasantly surprised by the room. our corner unit was thoughtfully designed, making excellent use of space with super high ceilings and a beautiful view right from the washroom. just a heads up, it has an open shower, and the floors can get slippery when wet. a robe and face towel would’ve been a welcome addition, but overall the room was well equipped. the bed was firm and came with adjustable settings to sit up comfortably. linens were good quality, and we appreciated the slippers, iron, hot water kettle, fridge, safe, and umbrella provided for our stay. extra towels were delivered by yoshi, one of two service robots. a fun and efficient touch that gave us a small glimpse into the hotel’s tech forward approach. decent breakfast and excellent! "
