"We honestly cannot fault our stay here. The staff, although they said they spoke little English, they were incredibly helpful! The room is what you pay for. It was spacious and had its own private bathroom and it was clean. The room also provided you with towels and some toiletries/toothbrushes which was very handy. The hostel is situated right next to the train line but having said this, we had no disturbance from the trains passing through. In fact I think we even forgot we were next to a train line at one point.
The accommodation is a short 10-15 minute walk into main Avila. There you can see/visit the Walls of Avila, the Cathedral and many other beautiful historic spots. Every morning we went to a little cafe, just across from the hostel, I think it was called Costellos? But it was so lovely and very reasonably priced.
The locals are very friendly and helpful and Avila as a whole just felt so safe. We would definitely stay here again if we were to visit."
"There were some issues with general maintenance in the room which was disappointing considering the outward appearance and smart design of the hotel. The food in the cafeteria was very disappointing quality and staff were too busy though they were trying their best. Good location and easy parking on site which is a real bonus."
"Las Cancelas was a perfect stay for us. Basically next to the Ávila Cathedral and (probably) the only hotel with its own small parking lot.
Maybe a new a/c for the room will be a good idea. We know the weather was particularly hot during our stay, but it definitely needs a new unit."
"It’s a small family hotel very close to Saint Teresa’s natal home church. Wish they had coffee cafe available early with perhaps a machine. Even though limited staff, Norma was very helpful and a sweetheart. On the negative side, there are no close restaurants or shops but the walk into the busier plazas was not bad at all and it was an easy walk to out the walls Lienzo Norte. Will definitely stay there again. Thank you to the owner 👏!!!"
