About this property
Casa de Suenos in Taos
Casa de Suenos (House of Dreams) is an adobe style home situated on the high mesa at the North edge of Taos with spectacular views of the Taos mountains and sunsets. With 1,650 square feet of living space it can comfortably accommodate up to 6 people and is eclectically and tastefully decorated. There is also an in-house studio art gallery with work for sale.
The two bedroom suites, which are at separate ends of the house, have new queen and king beds with plush new linens and towels. The master bath has a jacuzzi and walk in shower as well as a full bathroom next to the guest room suite.
The living room offers common area sleeping options, a futon and sofa bed with memory foam in the living room.
A welcoming hot tub sits just outside in a private courtyard accessible through the kitchen or bedroom.
The kitchen is fully equipped with quality cookware, a gas stove and cook top, a full refrigerator/freezer with filtered water and and a large gas grill outside the door on the patio to cook while you're enjoying the mountain views. A beautiful kiva fireplace warms the living room with plenty of seating to enjoy from three plush couches as well as a large fire pit outdoors.
Casa de Suenos is artist-owned with original colorful Southwest paintings in all the rooms and many cultural touches from our world travels. The home also includes a working studio and gallery of oil paintings by owner and painter Julie Nilsson. Access is with a key provided and visitors are welcome to see current work and what is available for purchase. We can assist with shipping if needed.
Additional amenities include a 42" TV, DVD library and player, fiber optic internet with speed of 45-50 MBS, full stereo system, new washer/dryer with laundry soap provided, iron and ironing board, toaster, micro-wave, coffee pot, pack and play, jacuzzi tub and private shower in the master bath.
As much as you will enjoy the home, you will love the peace and quiet of the open spaces that surround you. You may not have really seen stars and the Milky Way until you have spent an evening here. The sage covered mesa has an old road, immediately accessible from our acreage, which invites cycling, jogging or walking all the way to the Rio Grande Gorge if you like, with views of the mountains around Taos, the Jemez Mountains far to the southwest near Los Alamos and the far western horizon.
The owners visit their Taos home on a regular basis and as a result, it is very well maintained. They are always thinking about what upgrades they need to make - for themselves as well as you.

Had a blast in Taos. The house was even better than expected!! The gallery was beautiful and it had all the amenities we could ever need. Highly recommend and would definitely stay in the future!
We had a wonderful time in this beautiful home with a beautiful view! We loved the enclosed yard, hiking trail next to the house, the art studio inside and the house had all the amenities you need. We had a couple issues with housecleaning but they attended to the them immediately and were so kind. We would definitely stay here again!
Absolutely loved this casita; beautifully decorated, very comfortable and amazing views. Hope to come back soon! Thanks to the hosts for sharing it with us.
My family spent a long weekend at Casa Suenos and had a great experience. House is beautiful, clean and comfortable. Kitchen has everything you need and an awesome hot tub under the stars. Plus, beautiful artwork throughout the house.
Superb house in a tranquil setting close to everything. This house is well equipped with a nice kitchen, hot tub, grill, and outdoor fire ring. Easy drive to TAOS or great hiking. I highly recommend!
Great location - close to the valley and to town. The hot tub was perfect after a long day of skiing. Clean house, lots of New Mexico charm. Wendy is very responsive!
Perfect place for a getaway. Love the atmosphere in this awesome home. Very comfortable and welcoming. The artwork and heated floors were so welcoming. It was obvious that this was much more than a vacation rental, but someone’s home that welcomes a weary traveler ….
The property is beautiful. We enjoyed everything about it. Watching the sunrises in the mornings was one of our favorite things. Then the hot tub in the evenings. The bed was super comfortable. We will definitely stay here again if we go back to the area.
Very nice and peaceful property. It’s in a bit of a remote area which is exactly what we were looking for. There are neighbors but far away enough that you still feel secluded. Taos plaza is a short drive away! Nice little yard for our dog plus the wide open area close to a trail. Dog loved it and we very much enjoyed our stay!
Absolutely beautiful place! Prettier than the pictures posted! Furnishings inside and out, artwork, comfortable surroundings, all were outstanding. Gorgeous view of the mountains. If you prefer to "get away from it all", this is the place!
We enjoyed celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary in this beautiful home. Love the artwork, and we also love the hot tub and the wonderful windows to be able to view the mountains. We are so glad we chose this place for our stay.

Location was convenient to skiing, the Rio Grande gorge walking path, earthship museum and to good eats. Enjoyed our stay with great Taos Mountain and sunset views. Walked the road and arroyo nearby to see more of El Prado neighborhood. Thanks for sharing this home. Decor and art well done! Also an excellent eclectic movie collection… likely the only place in town you can enjoy a viewing of Barraka!
Four years in-a-row. Our perfect place for downtime and skiing. Fabulous! Also love all the books available to read. Recently discovered that Anne Hillerman continues her dad’s series, so it was neat to go back and reread “Dance Hall of the Dead” copyright 1973, to remind me why I fell in love with this series and to compare/contrast with Anne’s style. This home is just super beautiful! Love the art. Everywhere. What a balm!
We were desiring a quiet restful stay, away from it all, but have EZ access to restaurants & regional sites. This locale & accommodations were perfect.
The home is designed for quality and comfort. Decor is perfect for local culture. Personal artist touch made it even better. Book & DVD collection caused us to leave our reading materials packed; except for daily morning scripture time.
Property was very clean & well stocked with about anything needed for private stay. Some good restaurants not too far away in Taos.
Everything was wonderful.
We would not hesitate to return.
Only suggestions would be to remove weed growth in yards & supply some better paper towels.
My daughter and I had a repeat weekend away at Casa de Sueños. We stayed in 2023 and couldn't imagine any other place we'd rather stay on our second trip to Taos.
The home is just perfect with the saltillo tile, wood beams, and gorgeous views. Julie's art in the home is what first attracted us to the property, so we both decided to purchase a piece from her on-site gallery. I'm so glad we did.
This visit, we enjoyed the firepit and Adirondack chairs, while our last visit was focused on the private hot tub of the master bedroom. We witnessed about 6 shooting stars our first night there and went to bed with achy necks from looking at the millions of stars.
You won't be disappointed. I love this home and my daughter agrees. ❤️🧡💛 Thank you for making your home available for such a wonderful mother/ daughter trip.

Perfect Location
This house sits down a well traveled dirt road in a subdivision within close proximity to anything you might need during your stay.
The house presents as described in the listing but is in need of a little TLC.
While we were happy to bring our dog for our stay and appreciate the opportunity - we found a large amount of pet waste to the front of the property, along with some trash that may have blown in from the house under construction next-door. There was also pet waste in the backyard that we had to clean up.
We travel quite often utilizing VRBO and every house we have rented other than this one has had condiments and small items left in the fridge so you can cook upon arrival. We always leave lightly used items for the next renter and have enjoyed that others do the same. You should know there is nothing left here and you must bring all items that you may need. This is not necessarily a bad thing, just not expected and had we known we would have been better prepared.
Communication with the host could have been better. There were no entry instructions until hours before our arrival. Even after contacting the host for the information as VRBO instructed in the email you get with the directions, we did not hear back or even get acknowledgment for two days and until we were hours into a lengthy drive to the house. We also inquired about purchasing one of the paintings in the studio and never heard back.
Ultimately we left two days early.
Very nice quiet location. Beautiful artwork throughout the house. Dark skies made stargazing and astrophotography easy. We will plan on booking this house in the future
This was our second stay in this beautiful home and it was perfect again. This time, we brought our two mini schnauzers and I cannot say enough good things about this home if you bring your dogs. The entire backyard is secure with a tall adobe fence so we felt very safe having them outside with us. The views from the patio are STUNNING! The location is perfect... far enough away from town, but close to everything. We could be in downtown Taos in less than 15 minutes, but so close to the Rio Grande Gorge. We hiked every day around this beautiful property with our dogs. That was so nice! We also worked virtually for some of the trip, so having a nice quick path to walk at lunch was wonderful! While we brought our own starlink, the wifi in the house is very good! The home was clean and comfortable and the host was so accommodating with anything we needed. We can't wait to come back!
