We truly enjoyed staying at this charming vintage cabin. It is in a quiet neighborhood and has the best porch with amazing views of the mountains! We loved the proximity to both RMNP and town. The owners and property managers are great to work with and provide excellent communication.

We had a wonderdul time at Joy Cabin. The cabin offered a beautiful view of Longs Peak. The queen beds were quite comfortable. The twin beds, not so much. Kitchen was nicely stocked and the washer amd dryer were nice to have. Wonderfully located near the entrance to the national park.

Our family had a great stay at the Joy Cabin. The view from the front porch is spectacular! It's an older cabin, but had all the amenities we needed.

Location is great, minutes from Estes and RMNP entrance. Decor is a true 100 yr old cabin with mounted furs, I liked it. The deer and elk bedded near porch. The humming birds visited the feeders often. The view is breathtaking. A true rustic cabin feel with modern conveniences.
Our family very much enjoyed our stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Joy Cabin for our first family vacation to the Rocky Mountains. The cabin was clean and perfect for our family of four. The weather was a little on the variable side but the views were amazing, especially on a clear day. We saw plenty of elk and deer just outside the sun room window and our kids loved the hammock out front. The cabin is conveniently located to town and to RMNP. Thanks for a great stay!

This was our fourth stay at the Joy Cabin so we knew what we were getting. This was our first time in late September so the earlier nights and cooler temps reduced the time spent out on the porch which just might be the best porch in Estes! But we did get to spend more time indoors which was actually pretty fun as well. It's a great place, great location, and I love the historic feel. Well equipped kitchen too.

Loved the location and wildlife. Clean. Big living room, but sleeping space wasn’t what we thought. Stairs were a little tight, and the whole place creaked at any movement. Not really into the dead animal skins in the eating area, but that’s just our taste. Enjoyed the hummingbirds through the big windows, and the porch.

Our mission was to hike in RNMP. This place is less than a mile from the entrance gate. Convenient to get to town, etc. The sleeping quarters are pretty cramped upstairs, so I would say 5 people would be more comfortable than six. They could add a futon etc in the large living room area. The porch is great and everything else adequate. It is an old cabin, So the floors creek, etc. If you have light sleepers, this might be an issue.

The location of this property right outside the gates of RMNP is perfect for us to do all our park hiking. The view of Longs Peak is amazing. This historical cabin was a treat to stay in. We so enjoyed the ambiance and the ceramic stove. It does seem to need a deep cleaning. The master bath had a very strong musty smell and the overhead fan is filthy. The kitchen blinds are grease coated on the bottom and all the windows need cleaning. It just needs a simple deep clean to be 5 star.

We enjoyed our stay at Joy cabin. I could have sworn that when i reserved this cabin initially that it had 3 bedrooms. But we just moved the mattresses and made it work. I had read that you don't need central air in Colorado but that is false. It got up to nearly 90 when we were there and the cabin was very hot. We ended up sight seeing more just so we could cool off in our van. The location was very pretty but not as remote as the pictures lead it to be. No one bothered us tho so it wasn't an issue. We saw deer and rabbits in the yard. Lots of elk were seen in the park. Internet and phone service were great and kitchen had everything we needed. Having a washer and dryer was great. The kids would've preferred a pool or hot tub. The cabin was plenty big enough for our family of 6. Over all we would stay here again!

Place does have a difficult mice problem. Traps are fine. Caught a couple and observed 2 more and heard them at night. Probably came in through pipes under the house or in dryer vents.
First stairway step at ground aria of stairway entrance is too big a jump. Need a cement slab on ground to shorten the first step height for old folks.
Electric base board floor heaters only work in master bedroom. Forces you to over heat that area to get heat in living room etc. The thermostat difficult to work. Has a mind of its own.

The property was mostly clean. We found hair that didn’t belong to us and trash under our beds. A couple things were broken or stained. The management let us know one afternoon that the next day there would be a pest control company property so we were encouraged to leave when they would be there. They couldn’t provide a time and didn’t hear me out on my concerns (I was definitely blown off).
This property is NOT baby friendly. Steep stairs inside, huge step outside to get in. Bathrooms are all in the first floor. The front sunroom floor is so shaky that things were falling off their shelves when we walked through, even when careful. It was also slanted. This wouldn’t have been as big an issue if we didn’t have small kids with us.
The porch has a lovely view, the extras in the kitchen were helpful, towels were clean, beds were clean. Loved the older cabin feel and the location.
Maybe wouldn’t have spent so much if I had known the cons, but it wasn’t bad! Definitely cozy and a nice place to land after a day of hiking.

While the cabin ultimately worked well for our family, I think there are a couple of things that may help future renters. This is our 5th summer in Estes and we’ve stayed in a different VRBO each year.
The listing does indicate that the second bedroom is on the upper floor. Please note that the staircase is quite narrow and very steep and that both bathrooms are on the first floor. This could be an issue if anyone in your group is older, has mobility problems, or if young children need to access the bathroom at night.
After staying in Joy Cabin, I feel that picture of the second bathroom is a bit misleading. It is quite small. If you have any people of size in your group (whether weight or height) this bathroom would be difficult to use.
The doors to the main floor bedroom are double French doors, and lack any covering. This bedroom opens directly to the main living space/TV room, making privacy a challenge.
I contacted the management company about box fans. The gentleman that brought the fans out was very pleasant, but it did take additional follow-up the next day before fans were provided. The house does creak (totally normal!) & the box fans served a dual purpose of cooling us off + providing some white noise.
The kitchen was well-stocked, and we appreciated that a lot. The washer/dryer worked well, too. Joy Cabin is clearly a beloved family retreat, and the owners seem charming, but it does have its quirks.

Very nice cabin with big living room and great views off the porch of the mountains. Five minutes at most from the park entry and Bear Lake Road. Rustic cabin vibe, nice neighborhood. Good delis and restaurants walkable. Wildlife everywhere, including in the neighborhood!

Everything was just what we expected and wanted. Rustic but with sufficient modern conveniences. Location is close to everything but feels private and away from civilization. Quiet and great view. Loved sitting on the porch watching the shifting weather on Longs Peak under a blanket. Our stay couldn’t have been better. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

The kitchen was large and well-equipped, with a lot of counter space. We didn’t spend any time in the living room or watching TV, because we were either in the park or on the front porch. We loved the front porch, with the rocking chairs and porch swing and the awesome view of Long’s Peak. The location is convenient. You are close to the Beaver Meadow entrance to the park, and not too far from downtown. We have rented several cabins that Steve Ferrante has managed, and he has always been very good to work with.

This property is in a great location! It was easy to get to town and close to activities, yet had the secluded mountain cabin feel with wildlife all around. Well maintained and clear instructions. It was perfect for our family - middle-aged parents with college aged children. There are steep stairs going into the house, to the upstairs, and the bed on the main level is rather tall, so I don't know that I would recommend it for those with mobility issues. For us, it was perfect! The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed to prepare meals. Enjoyed the porches and the main living area for reading books and playing games. Highly recommend this property!
