A quaint Bavarian style hotel, Ettal is a small village so there aren’t many things to do there, but the hotel is right next to a bus stop.

We stayed two nights during our honeymoon. The hotel/room/town were all adorable. Our suite was spacious and clean. There’s a bus stop in front of and across the street from the hotel. Ettal Abbey is also across from the hotel. The front desk has a visitor card for guests to use for free local bus travel (after 5 euro deposit/per person). We used it to travel to the Schloss Linderhof and Oberammergau. We used the pool, saunas and massage amenities. Absolutely loved our stay and wish we stayed longer.

I had a great 4 nights staying at this hotel - which is owned by the monastery across the street. The highlights for me were 1) Helmut, the night guard (extremely friendly and with encyclopedic knowledge on German/Bavarian history and politics); 2) the pool (quite nice); 3) the sauna (only open from 3 pm, but also very nice); and 4) the bed (VERY nice mattress). Highly recommended!

Beautiful authentic hotel with modern touch. The hallways are filled with antiques and interesting pictures/portraits. We arrived late but still got very warm welcome by an elderly gentleman at the reception. The suite is lovely and with a nice view of the mountains. Breakfast is also satisfying, with enough variety to start the day. The hotel is very close to Kloster Ettal, it’s definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended!

Nice stay overall but our downstairs neighbor were talking loud and laughing loud at 11:30pm-midnight. Well we had to close balcony door even though it was warm in the rooms keep the noise out.

When we arrived there was no one at the front desk, then the lady that showed up said she is not trained to check people. It took a while before we were checked in. The room was not what we had paid for but we figured it is just for one night. After going to the pool wanted to take a shower, cold water was not working. So we had to change room. She gave us two card to go down to the bar, had a beer and Jin tonic she said that was more than what the coupons were good for so the rest will be charged to our room. The first room was in horrible shape the second one is a little better. It is a big hotel with maybe ten rooms occupied. Just do yourself a favor, go somewhere else.
