"Words just can’t express how overwhelmingly happy we are with our stay with the Great Western Hotel, Taunton. The building itself is beautiful and lovingly kept, with every aesthetic detail exuding style and quality! Our room was lovely with stylish decor and little touches like a real cafetière, instead of instant coffee, made it feel more personal. Breakfast was high quality and again, personalised! The staff were more than happy to fully adjust the menu to meet our preferences and were just delightful. I feel very strongly that the staff deserve a special thank you… each and every member of their team went above and beyond to make myself and my daughter feel welcome and comfortable. My very nervous daughter was about to sit her first GCSE in Taunton, hence the overnight stay, and the staff were just so beautiful with her and really helped to reassure her. She went off to the exam centre beaming! In addition to all of this- they allowed us to use their parking, free of charge while we went into the town for lunch after the exam. I have stayed in many hotels over the year, but this little gem is by far the best yet. I can’t recommend enough. A huge thank you for making a potentially stressful trip a pure delight! ❤️"

"The room was fine the thermostatic radiator valve wasn't working, an unusual winge was that it was so warm we had to open the window (it's a surprisingly busy road into and from Dulverton which of course we heard all night,). There were some dead things in the glass lampshade,and the mattress was the most uncomfortable that we have ever encountered. Let me be clear that the hotel staff etcetera are first class and the only other slight complaint was that dinner was cooked really well but absolutely tasteless (pork belly in cider sauce). Fantastic breakfast, would happily stay again in a different room and bed."

"First time at this hotel, staying for one night. A quick visit to Tiverton on the way home from a few days in Bideford to see the Grand Western Canal and assess the potential for a future longer visit. Overall, facilities, food and staff excellent, decor a little tired. Free parking on site a major advantage. Room comfortable, but no USB ports provided to charge phones etc. However, will definitely consider coming back at a later date. "
