"Right in the center of town and an easy walk from the train station in Barnstaple. Everything is right there in walking distance and it's all just as funky and charming and welcoming as can be! The hotel's foundation has sunken a bit (or more in some places) which is charming but a little disconcerting if you're thinking you might fall out of bed!"

"This was a very low cost hotel, and I had limited expectations. BUT - room was large, clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Pleasant bar and restaurant (with reasonable prices). Plenty of free parking. Overall, exceptional hotel at the price."

"My wife and i had a 5 night break here in the dog friendly room 2. The weather was excellent which did mean we could get the most out of the area. The room was perfectly clean and modern and enough space even with a dog crate. The room is not serviced but you can ask for items (milk etc) when needed. Staff were all very nice and helpful. We ate in for 3 nights and all the meals were perfect. We had the full English (and meat free option) every day. It was so good and plentiful that we barely bought lunch all week. Plenty of parking, good sitting out area in full evening sun (if its out), walks from the door. Watermouth Castle is definately worth a visit and a must do with children, and the 301 bus stop is right outside. Watermouth Bay is a pretty harbour with super family run cafe, but note that this is not a sandy beach. A very nice place to stay."

"The Valley is a lovely building and the furnishings are very nice . The staff are very friendly and accommodating . We have stayed before and will be staying again. It is excellent value for money. "

"We stayed 2 nights in an estate room just me and the hubby, then our adult kids and my parents joined us Friday to Monday for my 50th birthday and we stayed in a four bedroom valley view lodge with a hot tub. We were very lucky as had sun the whole time we were there. Room was lovely, lodge was amazing. Lodge was fabulous inside and out and the views were amazing. Stunning views everywhere, the whole place is so well kept and beautiful. Activities for those who want them, we tried archery. Inside pool was large and nice but parts of it could do with a little tlc, however I wouldn’t mark it down for that because everything else was so good. Outside pool wasn't open yet. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Holly on reception was brilliant and super helpful and Shelby and James that did the archery with us were really lovely. Will definitely stay again. "
