Our 5 acres of land provide the perfect peaceful retreat in the mountains.

Long distance views from both the main deck and private hot tub deck will ensure a relaxing, back-to-nature stay. You can forget the cell phones and computers for a true break from the real world if desired...but full cell signal with all known carriers and WiFi allow for reality checks as needed.

The driveway is steep and narrow, but all paved except for the flatter parking area, where a 2-to-4-point turn will turn your vehicle around again. For those not comfortable on mountain roads, please take note of the steepness, as it can seem intimidating. But to almost all of our guests, it's just a part of our mountain cabin experience - adding to the adventure! * Please also note: We have 42 steps from the driveway to the front door; so unloading your vehicle can be a workout! For those with mobility difficulties, the steps are not suitable.

With all modern amenities, one won't need to leave the cabin, but the surrounding area has so much to offer to the adventurous at heart. Conveniently located less than 20 minutes from downtown Asheville, 12 mintues from the Blue Ridge Parkway, 20 minutes from the Biltmore Estate and Black Mountain, 30 minutes from Chimney Rock/Lake Lure and Hendersonville, this quiet getaway is still close to all the attractions and activities.

We loved everything about this property! The view was incredible and we loved being tucked away. It was very clean and we had everything we needed. Lisa was extremely helpful and we will not hesitate to book here or at another one of her properties next time we come!

Beautiful and comfortable cabin

We were so happy with the cabin and its view of the gorgeous mountains. It was perfectly clean and comfortable and had everything that we needed for a week of downtime. It's an easy 30-minute jaunt to Asheville and the city's many things to do. We couldn't have been happier.

Awesome birthday trip!

I booked my this cabin for my wife to have a girls trip get away for her 50th birthday and they loved it! Couldn't get enough of the view and my wife is already insisting we go back soon (me included this time).

View from the top of the world

If you can conquer those steps, the view is totally worth it! Beautiful cabin that was perfect for our trip. The view is beyond breathtaking and I loved that we could open all the windows to get that crisp mountain air. Great property for adults, and the owner was so kind to keep me updated during the aftermath of hurricane Helene. Would definitely recommend the stay!

Top notch accommodations

I stayed here with my husband and sons for my husband’s birthday. We frequent the area and know how special it is. This well-appointed home was exactly what we needed, with beautiful views, a hot tub, and easy access to hikes and the Asheville area. The owners were very accessible and helpful when we had questions.

This property was exceptional. It was exceptionally clean and had everything available you could possibly need. The hosts were very responsive, and the information provided for our stay was spot on. The stairs could be a challenge, but the view was definitely worth the climb. We would definitely stay here again.

Mountain stay!

Was a beautiful property and communication was great! We had the best time! I will say if you have bigger vehicles only one can probably fit in the driveway but the house was wonderful! We will be back!

Just what we wanted

Very lovely and private cabin

We saw a mama black bear and two cubs, a lynx, and a groundhog. Beautiful trees and views. Very nice cabin, very nice beds, pillows and bedding. Very close to Asheville and Blue Ridge Parkway, and Chimney rock state park. Driveway looks very steep but gave no trouble. We had a great time!!

Smokey Mountain Get Away

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at this cabin. It was by far the cleanest VRBO I have ever been at. Everything was perfect, the views were amazing, seeing the animals was so fun (of course mamma bear and her cups (saw them 3 times!), deer, woodpeckers, heard owls. We highly recommend this place, the driveway is no joke though, we rented a truck and it was hard to get it turned around...had to do the back and forth. You can get your exercise in just going up and down the driveway! Thanks for a great time!!

Spectacular vacation stay!!

First of all, the house was absolutely stunning and the views were amazing. All the little touches made the stay so inviting. The owners even left us a local gift of honey lollipops and honey in the cabin. Being in a hot tub overlooking the mountains could not have been more relaxing. I left behind my shirt in the cabin by accident, and Lisa, one of the owners, was kind enough to mail it back to me. Thank you Jay and Lisa for everything! We had an awesome time!

Breathtaking View

Centrally located cabin high on a mountain side with breathtaking views. Not only the view of mountains, but the night sky was breathtaking. Waking up with snow one morning, then going to sit in the hot tub having your coffee was amazing. The bed was very comfortable. Not having anyone around is another bonus. Loved watching a beautiful woodpecker just hanging out . The deck is great for relaxing. The grill made it even better. It was way more than what we were expecting! The area is recovering there is plenty to do, so come visit and help people get their lives back to normal..

Breathtaking view and hot tub

We really enjoyed our stay at Lazy Bear. Communication with the host was fantastic both before and during our stay. The cabin is absolutely beautiful and has everything you need to enjoy some peace and quiet. You are not in the middle of nowhere but you sure feel like it, which allowed for seclusion but safety knowing things and others weren’t far off. The view was amazing and we enjoyed our evenings in the hot tub. Directions for check in and out stay were very thorough and left nothing to guess. We would definitely love to return!
