Was in town for family wedding. Place is clean, beautiful views and nice open space. Owners are very responsive and shared many ideas for activities in the area.
Our stay was exactly what we needed and Toby and Kim were very kind and highly responsive. The house was immaculate and well stocked. We loved the property and the island. Our youngest caught about 25 crabs and we feasted.
We had a great time nice relaxing atmosphere crabbing of the dock very remote location dog loved swimming wife loved the sea glass beach down the road and food at saltys was awesome i give it 5 stars
Our stay in this charming cottage exceeded our expectations! Equipped with every necessity and a private pier, we reveled in fishing and crabbing. Although rain dominated our visit, we witnessed a breathtaking sunrise on our final day. Our host, Toby, was exceptional and attentive to our needs. We relished every moment of our getaway!
Both the property and house were very impressive. They had everything we needed, and we did a bit of everything while we were there: swimming, stargazing, camp fires, crab feast, fishing, etc. The owners were quick with communication and didn't mind us bringing our dog at the last minute. Overall, we loved it and didn't want to leave. If the opportunity arrises, we'll definitely go back.
We LOVED Sunrise Farmhouse! It was spotless and with every amenity we needed. The porch was perfect for morning coffee and evening sunsets! We spent hours fishing and playing off the dock. Our hosts were more than attentive and I appreciated their quick responses to our questions. I would absolutely choose this property again.
Great location, house was as expected.
Large yard, firepit, great out door furniture to relax in.
Pier was used extensively for fishing, crabbing, and dockage. A pleasure to use.
Owners were amazing amd provided the kind of customer service you don't see anymore. Tumely and wonderful to work with.
Thanks and hope to stay again!
The experience matches the pics. It’s a cute 1920’s farmhouse with plenty of comfy places to sleep, a nice dock (with lights) for fishing or crabbing (caught dozen our first day there) and a fire pit for s’mores.
Owners were super responsive and we had zero issues during our stay. Couldn’t have been better (unless we’d caught 2 dozen crabs).
Toby was an amazing host! The house was clean and had all we needed. It was the perfect place to go and just enjoy nature. The only complaint I have is in no one's control
Except the good lord above- the rain was a lot. I would recommend a trip to the Sunrise Cottage!
We had a great time as a family with 3 teenage boys and 2 pets! We caught 15 good sized crabs and enjoyed them fresh. The hosts were gracious and responsive. Our dogs had a fun time as well. The only thing was not having a dishwasher but it isn’t a big deal. :) Memories were made.
I rent this cottage for me and my two teen children. We have a great time during we were staying. Lots of stars on the sky.
We caught plenty of crab(around 70) during our stay. There are plenty of fish to catch.
Island is very quiet and relaxing. My son told me he wants to stay longer.
The owners, Tobi & Kim, was very friendly and kind as well.
It was very nice family getaway
We had a lovely short weekend here. The home is super quaint and lovely and a lot of work went into setting it up to be comfortable and inviting. Instructions were clear and easy to find and we had everything we needed. Fair warning, the stairs to the second floor are steep and we had to carry our dog down them.
We had a great time at Old Saltys, everyone we met on the island was super friendly, and we spent our time by the water on the dock enjoying the calm scenery.
Thanks again for a great stay!
We had a wonderful stay at this lovely cottage. The location is extraordinary. We watched the sunrise every morning from the backyard dock and the sunset from the front porch. We spent the days exploring the island, collecting sea glass, hiking trails and birdwatching in nearby Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, eating crabs and oysters, and visiting historic sites honoring the memory and legacy of hometown heroine Harriet Tubman. Toby and Kim were excellent hosts. The cottage was well appointed, clean and orderly. It made for a wonderful vacation.
Seamless communication prior, easy checkin, and well supported visit in a truly beautiful area and location. The dock was SPECIAL. You felt alone in the amazing wilderness on the water. The house was well provisioned and Kim and Toby were easy to get in touch with when we had questions or needed something. Highly recommend this beautiful place.
Highlights: bringing our boat down, paddle boarding, crabbing from the dock, an amazing meal at the local restaurant, riding bicycles, flying kites, visiting the wilderness refuge and the Harriet Tubman museum. Loved this area.
Could not ask for a better stay. The location was absolutely serene. The home was perfectly comfortable for our needs and was also had everything we could need. We booked this stay for our annual electronics free weekend with the kids (even though the home had great Wi-Fi connection and fully stocked movie options).
This was not a negative for us, but just a tip to be sure you bring in everything you would need/want for your stay. There is a general store, but other than that the location is quite remote from the standard suburban amenities. A huge plus for us was being able to go out on the dock at night and star gaze unlike anything we have back home.
After traveling the marsh lands we arrived in the laid back village of Fishing Creek and to the cute farmhouse at the dead end road. Nicely decorated and very clean, we were more than comfortable in the lovingly restored home. The steep steps were a bit of a challenge for me. Both bedrooms and upper landing being open to downstairs does make noise travel. Loved the wrap-around porch. Breezes made it pleasant to sit and enjoy surrounding water views. Too hot and buggy for the fire pit area, but bet that would be nice. Be sure to try Old Salty’s restaurant a couple minutes away. Fresh, delicious food with very friendly staff. Harriet Tubman Visitor Center is a must see. And Blackwater Wildlife Refuge is impressive. Take a ride down to the end of Hooper’s Island and enjoy the views. Very relaxing several days. Thank you for sharing Kim and Toby.
Owners attenuative to texts for any needs. We arrived very late to property d/t I95 bridge being rerouted and it was no big deal with Toby the owner. Its a Quaint clean home with all needed amenities. Great kitchen. My husband and I love to cook. Be aware that main bedrooms are upstairs and bathroom is downstairs r/t toilet use at night/ small children. Property was well manicured with fabulous Chesapeake Bay views. Awesome dock for everything. Owner provided crab traps!!!
Bring couple steaks to throw on grill and and pair them with seafood right off the local docks. The "Scotts" at MadHouse Oysters have killer fresh oysters. Friendly close net community. Can not find nicer people than the staff at the general store. 5 star rating across the board for our vacation fishing, crabbing and relaxing at the bay. However if you are looking for nightlife and touristy activities. This is probably not a property for you. Drive to OC. But water activities, fishing, crabbing, bonfires in the firepit, fun family meals together, and exploring the island etc. etc. absolutely.
Disconnect from busy life to enjoy much needed family time
Great communication with Toby and Kim. Fast response prior to booking through checking out. They were awesome! Farmhouse was nice and cozy. Kids LOVED the rooms upstairs while the parents were told to stay downstairs LOL, as it is their space. The house was open where everyone can see one another when they want, which gave my kids security and felt safe. We loved decorations of the house. Nice home with great control of the AC. Beautiful view of the sunrise from the house but even better on the dock. The storm clouds even look great, so a great place for photographers. We went crabbing (caught a dozen crabs) with the provided cages. The dock was well equipped with a table, water and light! Fishing pole also came in handle which we caught 3 fishes (but threw them back). Weather was hot but with the breeze it was nice. Fire pit was also available which we tried but due to mosquitoes we had to end it short. Only thing I recommend to future guests is to bring mosquito spray and/or the Thermacell mosquito repellent. Or wear long sleeves and pants, as there are many around this time. We stopped by the local oyster/crab place called Russell’s that is RIGHT next door but sadly it isn’t oyster season. We went to George W Hall & Sons and the owner super nice to allow my kids and I to see how lump crabmeat were handpicked! Everyone we have met was super nice. The General Store was a few mins away and Old Salty’s had great seafood. Thanks again for the great memories!
Great place to stay in a beautiful setting for our visit to Blackwater Wildlife Refuge. Had a small problem with the property but host was fast to communicate and we were happy with the ultimate resolution. Very comfortable, well stocked and cozy house.
Nice place overall, clean, well stocked. Towels and sheets provided. Crabbing off the pier was good. Nice place for a quit getaway spot. Would recommend.
Enjoyed our time at the bay. The property is open, airy, and bright. Loved porch with bay breezes. If you’re looking for respite from life’s normal pace, this is a wonderful place.
