Wonderful property and fantastic hosts

Our stay was exactly what we needed and Toby and Kim were very kind and highly responsive. The house was immaculate and well stocked. We loved the property and the island. Our youngest caught about 25 crabs and we feasted.

A slice of heaven

Relaxing get away

We had a really nice time at the property. Unfortunately, the keeper crabs were not interested in being caught while we were there. We were able to buy some and cook them. Absolutely delicious! Our dog, Ziggy, had a nice time hanging out with us and chilling out!

Escape the rat race to here

So pretty, quiet and the views and accommodations were worth it. Beautiful ride there and while there also, seeing wildlife, birds & crabbers. No noise, no traffic. The dock was great with a lot of access to water including a binoculars view of the Hooper's Island Lighthouse. Just a lovely place to stay. The breezes off the water were very pleasant & refreshing.

30th Anniversary Get Away

Toby was an amazing host! The house was clean and had all we needed. It was the perfect place to go and just enjoy nature. The only complaint I have is in no one's control Except the good lord above- the rain was a lot. I would recommend a trip to the Sunrise Cottage!

Little slice of paradise

Seamless communication prior, easy checkin, and well supported visit in a truly beautiful area and location. The dock was SPECIAL. You felt alone in the amazing wilderness on the water. The house was well provisioned and Kim and Toby were easy to get in touch with when we had questions or needed something. Highly recommend this beautiful place. Highlights: bringing our boat down, paddle boarding, crabbing from the dock, an amazing meal at the local restaurant, riding bicycles, flying kites, visiting the wilderness refuge and the Harriet Tubman museum. Loved this area.

Perfect spot for a quiet respite

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely cottage. The location is extraordinary. We watched the sunrise every morning from the backyard dock and the sunset from the front porch. We spent the days exploring the island, collecting sea glass, hiking trails and birdwatching in nearby Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, eating crabs and oysters, and visiting historic sites honoring the memory and legacy of hometown heroine Harriet Tubman. Toby and Kim were excellent hosts. The cottage was well appointed, clean and orderly. It made for a wonderful vacation.

Fantastic stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Hoopers Island. Toby and Kim were amazing hosts and the property allowed us to unwind and disconnect in a gorgeous setting. They accommodated us at the last minute and even baited the crab traps for us since we were arriving late. The sunset and sunrise were breathtaking! We also enjoyed making margaritas and slushies with the Margarita machine. (We named her Margie!). We caught enough crabs and fish for dinner and enjoyed grilling the fish. We also loved the huge crab pot! The farmhouse was so charming and we felt at home immediately. We will definitely be back!

Relaxing Vacation

Owners attenuative to texts for any needs. We arrived very late to property d/t I95 bridge being rerouted and it was no big deal with Toby the owner. Its a Quaint clean home with all needed amenities. Great kitchen. My husband and I love to cook. Be aware that main bedrooms are upstairs and bathroom is downstairs r/t toilet use at night/ small children. Property was well manicured with fabulous Chesapeake Bay views. Awesome dock for everything. Owner provided crab traps!!! Bring couple steaks to throw on grill and and pair them with seafood right off the local docks. The "Scotts" at MadHouse Oysters have killer fresh oysters. Friendly close net community. Can not find nicer people than the staff at the general store. 5 star rating across the board for our vacation fishing, crabbing and relaxing at the bay. However if you are looking for nightlife and touristy activities. This is probably not a property for you. Drive to OC. But water activities, fishing, crabbing, bonfires in the firepit, fun family meals together, and exploring the island etc. etc. absolutely.

Cozy and beautiful -- Even in winter!

We had a great time. I think this is a beautiful setting and comfortable home for a handful of adults to stay in. That was our experience. I know vacation is a nice time to "unplug," but we still wanted to be able to gather together around the TV, and the TV in this house was great. Because it was a Google TV, we were able to cast to it immediately upon arrival. The picture and sound were great. The beds and bedrooms were super cozy (not code for small) and comfortable. A note about the heating -- this home has multiple wall units (the fancy kind) that keep you as toasty as you like. I expected it to be drafty overnight, but the heat rose up into the "loft"/bedroom area, and instead of needing to dive under my blanket after my evening shower, I was able to take my time unwinding because it was so toasty. That was a pleasant surprise. I suppose this is really a place that flourishes in the summer, but we loved our January visit. It was beautiful. I was glued to the window. Our first day was overcast, but the water was still a beautiful seafoam green color, so nothing was lost there. Our second day was blue skies, and that was stunning. I even saw some dolphin fins in the water when we went for a drive over the bridge! The birds that we saw (seagulls, herons) were beautiful. I'll always remember watching two guys out back in a motorboat crabbing in 30 degree weather with strong winds. I really felt like I was getting an Eastern Shore experience. The sunset was blood-red and beautiful. We drove over to Old Salty's to see our fill. Even in winter, it seemed to last a while, which was nice. Overall, we were comfortable, we were happy, we were peaceful. We are so glad to have stayed here. We recommend it!

Bay getaway

Enjoyed our time at the bay. The property is open, airy, and bright. Loved porch with bay breezes. If you’re looking for respite from life’s normal pace, this is a wonderful place.

Great Location Even Better Property Managers

Great location, house was as expected. Large yard, firepit, great out door furniture to relax in. Pier was used extensively for fishing, crabbing, and dockage. A pleasure to use. Owners were amazing amd provided the kind of customer service you don't see anymore. Tumely and wonderful to work with. Thanks and hope to stay again!

A great place for family and pets

We had a great time as a family with 3 teenage boys and 2 pets! We caught 15 good sized crabs and enjoyed them fresh. The hosts were gracious and responsive. Our dogs had a fun time as well. The only thing was not having a dishwasher but it isn’t a big deal. :) Memories were made.

Family Getaway!

Our stay in this charming cottage exceeded our expectations! Equipped with every necessity and a private pier, we reveled in fishing and crabbing. Although rain dominated our visit, we witnessed a breathtaking sunrise on our final day. Our host, Toby, was exceptional and attentive to our needs. We relished every moment of our getaway!

Great Family Getaway

Both the property and house were very impressive. They had everything we needed, and we did a bit of everything while we were there: swimming, stargazing, camp fires, crab feast, fishing, etc. The owners were quick with communication and didn't mind us bringing our dog at the last minute. Overall, we loved it and didn't want to leave. If the opportunity arrises, we'll definitely go back.

Perfect place to relax

We LOVED Sunrise Farmhouse! It was spotless and with every amenity we needed. The porch was perfect for morning coffee and evening sunsets! We spent hours fishing and playing off the dock. Our hosts were more than attentive and I appreciated their quick responses to our questions. I would absolutely choose this property again.
