PRINCIPE LUDOVICO – SOPHISTICATED SANTA CROCE DUPLEX

Principe Ludovico is a spacious yet cosy three-bedroom apartment within Dimora degli Affreschi, an impressive 19th-century Florentine palazzo in the vibrant Santa Croce district. Set near the banks of the Arno and beside the art-filled Horne Museum, this beautifully restored residence combines historic character with contemporary Florentine style, bespoke furnishings and carefully curated interiors by ArchFlorence.

The apartment occupies the 2nd and 3rd floors and sleeps up to six guests. It is reached via a few steps from the main palazzo entrance, with stairs and/or lift access to the 2nd floor, followed by internal stairs to the 3rd floor. A furnished covered terrace on the upper floor provides a private outdoor space overlooking Corso dei Tintori.

THE RECEPTION & FIRST BEDROOM

A welcoming reception hall with a mirrored cloak cupboard leads through a glazed corridor overlooking an inner courtyard.

Along this corridor is a delightful dual-access double bedroom, beautifully decorated in slate blue and natural linen tones. The room features a double bed and two custom-built wardrobes positioned on either side.

Its sleek private bathroom is finished in marble and polished marmorino and features a tiled rain shower.

LIVING, DINING & KITCHEN

A few original stone steps lead down to the apartment's open-plan sitting, dining and kitchen area.

Overlooking the inner courtyard, this inviting space is styled in dreamy sea-green and blue tones with exposed ceiling timbers overhead.

A fabulous L-shaped sofa provides plenty of room for relaxing, while a circular glass dining table accommodates six guests.

A compact but well-equipped kitchen sits to one side and includes integrated appliances, allowing guests to prepare meals while remaining connected to the main living area.

SECOND BEDROOM

An inner hallway with storage leads towards the apartment's second double bedroom. The hallway also houses a convenient washing machine and dryer, particularly useful for longer stays.

The bedroom continues the soft colour palette of the living space and is filled with natural light through two shuttered windows overlooking Corso dei Tintori.

A charming canopied double bed provides the centrepiece, while a walk-through mirrored closet area at the rear leads directly into the sparkling en-suite bathroom.

The bathroom is finished in marble and polished blue marmorino and features both a bathtub and a separate rain shower, creating a particularly luxurious bathing space.

PRINCIPAL BEDROOM & TERRACE

Wooden stairs rise to the 3rd floor and lead directly into Principe Ludovico's principal bedroom.

The room is gloriously decorated with Lewis & Wood's Beech Tree wallcovering, creating the feeling of a stylish little treehouse in the city. A double bed in matching colours sits beneath whitewashed beams, while a mirrored wardrobe provides storage.

The bedroom has its own bijou en-suite bathroom finished in polished marmorino with a marble shower.

The real highlight is the covered furnished terrace at the front of the apartment. Accessible from both the bedroom and its bathroom, the terrace faces Corso dei Tintori and provides a private outdoor setting for enjoying the atmosphere of Florence.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

Principe Ludovico sleeps up to six guests across three bedrooms.

Beds can be arranged as doubles or twins as shown in the photos. Requests to change a double into twins, or vice versa, must be made at least 7 days before arrival.

THE PALAZZO & GYM

Dimora degli Affreschi spans all five floors of the handsome Palazzo Fossi and contains ten individually designed apartments. The restoration has carefully preserved the character of the historic building while introducing contemporary comforts and bespoke interiors.

Guests also have access to a ground-floor gym featuring a mirrored wall, two stationary bikes — one classic and one elliptical — weights and exercise mats.

THE SANTA CROCE LOCATION

Principe Ludovico is centrally located in Florence's historic Santa Croce district, within easy reach of the Uffizi Gallery and many of the city's celebrated landmarks.

The iconic Duomo is a gentle walk away, while the Basilica and sunny Piazza Santa Croce and the spectacular Piazza della Signoria are also close by.

A short stroll across nearby Ponte alle Grazie takes you over the Arno towards the magnificent Pitti Palace, the Boboli Gardens and the panoramic views from Piazzale Michelangelo.

The surrounding streets are filled with artisans, markets, cafés, bars and restaurants. La Buchetta is directly opposite the palazzo, while the rustic Del Fagioli is just around the corner.

A nearby Conad supermarket makes self-catering convenient, and a nearby car park provides an option for guests arriving by car.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Air-conditioning and heating are subject to municipality regulations. Generally, heating operates from mid-October to mid-April, while air-conditioning operates from mid-April to mid-October. Please contact the host for further information.
