Jughandle Coast Vacation Home

This home is conveniently located between Fort Bragg (5 minutes away) and the Village of Mendocino (10 minutes away). Located 1/4 mile from the beach, the home is also close to state parks (Jug Handle, Russian Gulch, Redwood Forest, Van Damm and McKerricher) which are especially great for hiking, biking and beach access.

The home is very private, set on two wooded acres. A grassy yard opens into a meadow surrounded by redwoods, pine and fir. The house features cathedral ceilings and warm wood floors throughout, a completely equipped kitchen, cable TV/VCR, CD player, telephone, toasty wood-stove with a glass window for dinners in firelight, and a large back&side deck with outdoor dining and a barbecue for grilling.

This Mendocino house has a king, a queen, and two trundle beds (each of these beds can sleep two singles or make into queen size beds). All firewood, linens, kitchen supplies, and bedding are provided for your convenience as well as a washer and dryer. Portable crib is available.

The house and deck are wheel chair accessible but the bathroom is not large enough to accommodate a standard wheel chair.

Please: Put garbage/recyclables out in the bins. Wash dishes/pots/pans and store in cupboards. Unplug toaster/coffee maker/water pot. Turn off oven/range. Put woodstove fire out/close woodstove door.
Turn thermostat "off". Deck chair cushions inside. Lock windows/sliders. Turn lights off.
Lock Door: Use keypad to lock door. Do not lock the front door handle lock on the inside. Use the electronic keypad only. Put the front door key back under the mat (if used to unlock door handle).

Comfortable, quiet house near Mendocino

We enjoyed a relaxing stay here in the spacious living room for reading and relaxing, enjoying the back deck, and the beds were very comfortable. Also, very conveniently located to Mendocino and Ft. Bragg.

We had an amazing stay at this cabin! It was the perfect getaway for our small family. The cabin had everything we needed—comfortable, well-equipped, and incredibly cozy. The main room was spacious and open, with an incredible fireplace that made our evenings so relaxing.The patio deck was a highlight, offering a peaceful spot to unwind and watch the many beautiful birds around. We loved the quiet and secluded setting, which made for a truly peaceful escape. Plus, it was just a quick drive to the beach, making it easy to enjoy both relaxation and adventure.We would love to come back again!

The Best getaway

This is my heaven on earth. I adore this place. Wonderful place to stay. The location is amazing and the house is charming. We go every year! Beds are comfortable. Yard is amazing. Plenty of space.

The house was just what I hoped it would be!

The house was clean and comfortable, the beds were extremely comfy! I would definetely stay there again. The only hiccup we had was not enough paper to start the fires in the woodstove, if there was any more we couldn't find it. Otherwise the stay was amazing and the area never dissapoints!

winter getaway.

Needed to get away for a couple of days after a busy Christmas and New Years on short notice. We were able to pick up the key on our way up. Neat place, lots of room, very comfortable and great and easy to get to location. Even on a rainy and stormy weekend it was a fun getaway, could hear the waves crashing from the house. Thank you.

Calm and beautiful

Our family was excited from the moment we pulled in to the drive. Pulling off the main road we felt hidden away in our own little area. We saw a momma dear and her baby everyday and occasionally a fox! Plus all the beautiful birds. Location was perfect. Close to Fort Bragg, beaches, trails, and ocean views. Beds were sooo comfy, place was clean and had everything we needed and more. We didn't want to leave!

Perfect place to relax!

The house was very centrally located but also very private. Super easy to get to all of the activities we had planned in the area. Directions provided were great and the house was not hard to find- even though we arrived late the first night. The yard was beautiful, and we really enjoyed being outside on the wrap around porch! The amount of space inside the house was perfect and could have accommodated far more than just the 3 of us. Check in and check out were a breeze. Only issue was that I wish we could have stayed longer!

Magical Gem!

What a magical gem this place is! My family of four (2 adults, 2 children) absolutely loved this home and property. The beds were super comfortable, there were plenty of sheets, blankets, and towels. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, glassware, etc. We loved the selection of board games and their House Folder had a ton of information on what to do around the area. The amount of windows and skylights in the home brought in natural lighting througought the day and we loved having the windows open to allow the cool breeze to flow throughout. In the evening, we enjoyed cozy fires in the wood burning stove. Our favoirte part however, was the grounds! This was just magical! We had so much fun playing with our imagination in this beautiful "realm" of redwoods, cypress, blackberries, rhododendrons, huckleberry, foxglove, daisies, ferns, pine, and so much more. These memories will stay with us forever. We will definitely be back to stay here again! Thank you Matt and Cathy for sharing this special place!

Perfection at Jughead Cove

This place was a wonderful spot for my two grown sons and I to enjoy a few days to enjoy each other's company which we don't get to do very often. Although this house was only several hundred yards off Hwy 1, you'd never know it, as the place is surrounded by redwoods, cedars and very large rhododendrons, giving you the feeling that you're in this secluded cabin in the woods. The interior of the house was fabulous, with it's wood paneling, open beams, fireplace and great decor. Matt and Kathy thought of absolutely everything as far as stocking the place was concerned. We couldn't have asked for better accommodations. Thank you.

Totally met all our needs and beyond!

The moment we entered the Jug Handle VRBO we felt right at home. The house was so spacious and had lots of room for our family of three. We also appreciated that the owners thought of just about everything. There were even extra personal items in case we forgot something. We had gone to the store to buy paper towels, oatmeal, conditioner, etc. only to find that they were already provided. We really enjoyed the king size bed, which was so comfortable! I would also like to note that it was easy to enter the house with only three steps. Parking was right at the front door. Would definitely return to Matt and Kathy’s home whenever we are in California again.

We enjoyed our time in this charming home. Everything was very clean. The kitchen was well supplied with dishes, utensils, and anything we needed to cook when preparing meals. It was always nice to come back to this very quiet retreat in the afternoon but still close enough to get into town if we wanted. Very calming to look out in the yard.

We had a great stay here! The place was very clean, well-stocked, and had everything we needed. Unfortunately, we got into a car crash on our way to the house, but arriving at such a peaceful and comfortable space really made a tough day a lot better. Excellent stay in Fort Bragg

I've stayed in many rental homes over the years and have found this home to be the most comfortable and well appointed of any I have ever stayed at. There is no unnecessary clutter and it is easy to make yourself comfortable here. It is very organized and you can easily find anything you need within the home. We recommend this home without any hesitations.

Perfect Stay

What a great experience! We has so much fun exploring the property. The home was appointed quite well...everything from comfy beds, very functional kitchen and a washer/dryer which is always a plus on a beach vacation. We enjoyed the peace of being in the country but still 10 minutes from everything in town. Having a state beach less than a mile away was great! In the evenings we enjoyed a fire in the wood stove that had plenty of firewood waiting for us. Communication with the hosts was perfect. Thank you for sharing your vacation home with us Matt and Cathy! Looking forward to our next visit.
