LITTLESTEPS recently refurbished one of the top three 'best places to live' in Britain by Country Life magazine. Fowey is a bustling sailing port on the Fowey Estuary, set in stunning countryside, with dramatic beaches nearby. Known for its sailing, walks, stunning views, and vibrant streets, Fowey is a gem in Cornwall and inspiration to many of Daphne Du Maurier's books. It is also home to the annual Du Maurier literary festival and the Royal Sailing Regatta. Fowey has an eclectic mix of independent shops and colourful restaurants, pubs etc. Apart from the sailing Fowey has access to some of Cornwalls fantastic beaches, kayaking, stunning walks and within easy reach of Eden project. Please note that these are non-smoking cottages. Next door is Longsteps which can sleep up to five people. Both of these properties can be rented out together to accommodate the larger party.

The property is ideally situated in the centre of Fowey and close to pubs, restaurants and local shops.
We chose this particular place as it had an outside space which is important as we were accompanied by our 2 small dogs.
Check in was easy and well communicated via the app.
First impressions were that the accommodation was small but had everything needed. On closer inspection and taking previous reviews into consideration the decorative order is showing its age with a coat of paint needed and a little TLC especially in the bathroom.
The outdoor space is really good and rare for a property in the centre of town. As detailed in the property description there was a BBQ but there was no gas bottle so we enquired via text to the housekeeper. Later that evening we received a call from the owner stating there was no BBQ, we pointed out that there was and the response was that it shouldn’t be there and would be removed.
We enjoyed our stay and the issues highlighted could be easily rectified which would make this place 5 stars.

A lovely old building with a small, but charming bedroom and a well-equipped kitchen. Owners were on hand to answer any queries quickly which was appreciated. The outdoor space is a bonus and has lovely views from the top decking area. The bathroom could do with some TLC - bit grubby in places, sink is wonky so collects water, shower screen leaks and toilet seat and flush just not fit for purpose. Some hooks in the property would be really useful to hang wet coats and on the back of the bathroom door for a dressing gown. These are the only reasons we would give 5*. We really enjoyed our stay and thought the location was excellent. Plenty of pubs, restaurants and independent shops and the nearby Hall walk was great.

Pros
Fowey is great - quaint winding streets, plenty of shops, good restaurants and pubs to cater for every taste, and a secluded beach at the end of the Esplanade.
Owner and local representative both friendly and responsive to requests
Literally just a two minute walk to Fowey centre
Private, partially secluded outside deck space
Cons
If you arrive late afternoon it can be hard to find vital supplies. Most holiday lets provide some kind of welcome pack, but here there was none (not even any toilet roll in the loo!). Also no hairdryer but we brought our own anyway as some aren't powerful enough.
The staircase is steep and with narrow treads that are smaller than an adult male foot. There’s no handrail at the top - when I had to get up in the night for our dog, I ended up sliding all the way down and badly grazed my hip. That could have ended up a lot worse but I was in discomfort which impacted our holiday. I had to visit my Dr on our return for a large bursa that came up on my hip.
The outside deck would be a lot more attractive if it had been weeded … as it is, it’s not a particularly welcoming space, no padded cushions for the metal seats.
The church is around 200ft away and the church clock chimes every hour through the night. The bedroom is small and quite warm and stuffy (even though it wasn’t hot weather during our stay) so we needed to have the window open all night and the bell woke us most times, despite using earplugs. A white noise phone app helped a bit

schönes kleines Cottage sehr zentral gelegen, aber trotzdem ruhig. Leider kein Parkplatz am Haus, war aber auch so beschrieben, es kann jedoch am Haus aus und eingeladen werden.

Excellent. Just as described on website. Perfect position to wander and explore the town. Great to forget the car for a weekend, explore a very pretty town with plenty of eating places and then return to very comfortable and well appointed accommodation.

Great location lovely cottage. Really nice to have a great outside space for our doggy. Mark was very helpful as soon as we arrived with a problem that was sorted straight away. If I had to say anything negative it was having to take towels and cleaner had left used coffee pods in machine and had to wash a few things before we could use them. Would recommend the property

Cute and cosy cottage right in town which made it perfect to get up and literally be steps away from a bakery or sea front walks. Very clean and well presented. Had everything as described. Great downstairs bathroom and loved the water options in the shower. Super steep hill up to the parking lot which is great for endurance building (took me 3 mins....my partner more the average of 7 mins plus). Glad I brought a white noise machine with me as it blocked out the church bells ringing every 15 mins throughout the night and the 5:30am sea gulls squawking. Of all the places visited for the first time, Fowey is my favourite. Just gorgeous and classy.

We really enjoyed our week - lovely property and great to have an outdoor space as this is difficult to get with small properties for just two people. Some coat hooks would be useful and a few flowers in the garden would make it perfect.

Really loved staying in this Cottage and Colette did everything she could to make our stay enjoyable so a huge thank you to her we were very grateful. Location wise you can’t beat it and the cottage had pretty much everything we needed although as a small point having towels provided would been really handy. Big thank you to everyone

We liked the property, even though it was a little on the small side. The two factors that we would like to mention are these:-
-the difficulty of dropping off bags at the outset due to the very narrow nature and steepness of the road,
-and the lack of a freezer. The town itself was lively and beautiful with plenty of things to do. We did cut our break short by one day due to the weather.

We stayed for a week in Little steps, it was a last minute booking - we needed somewhere dog friendly. The accommodation was great small neat and comfortable for 2 people, however our Labradoodle Syd is a big boy. We took his crate as that's where he spends the night. It was a tight fit to say the least. Would recommend nothing bigger than a jack Russell. That being said we managed.
Syd loved to sit on the decking in the sun watching the jack daws fly round. My husband and I had breakfast outside on a couple of mornings and also a barbeque one evening. the weather was very kind to us. Next door is Long steps that again is a lovely appartment and would have suited us better, but was unavailable for our dates. It is near to town taking all of 5 minutes to get to the main street. The info file was informative, for parking try and get a ticket where you can use any of the car parks we were limited to the one at the top of the hill. Our stay was great and Fowey and the places we went were all dog friendly as this was a holiday for Syd. To the owner - your accommodation is fabulous and we would stay again. Kind regards Janet Melling (Mrs)

We had a lovely week in Littlesteps, the cottage is in a fabulous location, albeit no parking nearby, however it helped with building our fitness to manage the coastal walks.
We ambled down town each day for amazing pasties from Niles bakery. Kittows deli and butchers had a wonderful selection of food that we had airing on the decking enjoying the stunning view.
Haveners bar and grill became a regular with happy, helpful staff and lovely food.
Fowey is a fantastic place to visit and the cottage has all you will need. Many thanks Kay and Woody

We have been to this cottage many times before and it never disappoints, each year the owners make improvements. This year on offer was a concierge service which if required can supply local produce and even stock the fridge with wine on arrival. Weather was amazing and we enjoyed sitting outside of an evening with a nice chilled glass of wine. We have already booked for next year.
Thank you for a great holiday

Weather was not the best, so having a cottage to go back to was a bonus. Very central. Unloading the car was difficult but then we realised that people just held up the traffic for a short while if necessary.

Comfortable and well provisioned cottage right in the middle of Fowey. Lovely garden / decking area which is surprisingly spacious and was much appreciated by our dogs who enjoyed basking in the sun. The hike up to the car park is one downside but not a problem as long as you are mobile. Well situated to visit all the cafes, pubs and restaurants in town.
