We were impressed with the quality and comfort of this hotel, close to the motorway for a one night stay during an extended trip in France. The toilet was separate from the shower and had no ventilation and when you flush the toilet the water splashes out even with the lid on. Other than that I loved the property.

Excellent location and the family is very involved with everything from check in to the restaurant. The only thing was we wished we had more time to dine in the restaurant it looked amazing!

Really nice hotel with a great restaurant

This place blew us away. We have stayed all over the world in hotels that cost a lot more money or similar. The experience here was absolutely top notch. The receptionist and other staff were so helpful and so sweet. We were so impressed by the level of service and how friendly everyone was. Such a great experience. We will send all our friends and family here. Exceptional.

Four star that could be a five star. Excellent staff, beautiful rooms, and if you book ocean views from the 3rd floor … be prepared for gorgeous views of the beach and ocean across the street.

Any time we are in or near Guethary we stay here. It has been five years and the excellent standard has not changed. They continuously update where need be. This time it was during a heatwave and the continuously cooled rooms are the recipe for a great night’s sleep, not counting the superbly soft white cotton sheets. Coming back again, that’s for sure.

Farmhouse like setting in countryside. Small village in walking distance. Quiet and serene. Surrounded by hills, trees, country. Room decor could be upgraded. Coffee maker in room would be a plus to the experience. Hosts are helpful and friendly.

It was a wonderful pleasure to stay at Auberge Ostape. Our only regret is that we only stayed two nights. It is hard to get to and incredibly worthwhile once you get there. The staff is most gracious and the restaurant is extraordinary. We hope to return.

We visited Hotel La Marisa for three nights in September with friends and chose the hotel based on location and value. It definitely succeeded on both fronts! The location in St. Jean de Luz is perfect - close to the beach plus walking distance of all the main restaurants and shops in the town. Plus, since this one of the bigger towns in Pays Basque you can easily rent cars nearby, get the train, etc. While the rooms are on the smaller side (typical of many European hotels I've stayed in),...

Loved this place clean up to date. We had lovely view from 3rd floor. Convenient for walking to local restaurants.
