"Our goal for our trip to Japan was to hike Mount Fuji, but one of the unexpected highlights was our stay at the Kappo Ryokan Uoichi! Post-hike, we moved from Tokyo to Osaka with a stop at the Ryokan in Shimada. Two families (eight of us) stayed at Kappo Ryokan Uoichi and had a wonderful time. The building is a 150-year-old restaurant, and the stay included a shared bedroom with eight futon beds, an adjacent family room, a private bathroom, and a shared onsen. "The room was clean, and front desk staff was extremely friendly. The only minus was the breakfast staff that said in a tone that was pushy and said they were closing soon . I replied there is still 30 minutes left before the end of ‘breakfast’ and that is plenty of time. ( it was a continental breakfast, breads and drinks only, self serve)."
