"It was very special experience to stay at Japanese traditonal house with my family. It was a little bit far from the main sightseeing site but we were ok because we had a car. Kinkakuji was especially awesome."

"This was a fantastic stay. Large family rooms are rare in Japan, so having such a comfortable shared space was a huge plus. The combo washer/dryer worked as expected, though we mostly used the drying racks. Heated floors in the morning were a luxury, and the whole place was spotless and well cared for. Thoughtful lighting added a great vibe. I’d definitely return."

"This was perfect for our group of 10. The outside gardens were beautiful. A highlight was the very large stone next door that hosts a Kami that brings happiness.The only challenge was that the personal onsen was so hot we needed to run cool water into it in order to use. This ran counter to the need to conserve cistern water. Perhapse, if there could be a way to redirect the incoming water, it could then cool naturally. A very special place to stay!"

"We absolutely loved our time at Tsubaki Ann Kyoto. It's a marvellous traditional house with amazing furnishings along with hi-tech facilities. One of my favourite things was feeding the beautiful fish! Akira (the owner) and his lovely team made us so welcome that we felt like family. Nothing was too much trouble and they were so helpful in explaining everything about the house. "This lovely hotel is located 2 blocks from a city bus line. There are a variety of small restaurants nearby. There is even a karaoke bar-Bar Dam-that was a blast to sing at with locals. Overall, this was a fantastic place to stay and I would vacation here again."
