One for history lovers. Canonica di Vertine is an extraordinary property with a deep history, as one would expect from its setting in the medieval hamlet of Vertine. But while many of our properties have lovely original features, few have their own religious frescoes. Yet that’s just what guests will be able to enjoy at this atmospheric Tuscan church house, ideal for large families or groups of friends, close to the market towns of Gaiole and Radda and in easy reach of Siena.

On first view, it’s clear this building is special, with its arch and round windows. Inside, the sensitive restoration has retained its historic assets while creating a stylish holiday home that has the feel of a townhouse, yet offers a tranquil, rural retreat. Many rooms share a view over the hamlet’s main square or the rolling Chianti hills, while all the first-floor double bedrooms benefit from private lounges – quiet spaces where guests can relax independently. Outside, the covered terrace, with built-in barbecue, provides a shady place to dine outdoors, while the private Jacuzzi pool in the lawned and paved garden is the place to take a cooling dip. 



Guests are entitled to a 10% discount on lunches and dinners at the nearby Castello di Spaltenna’s Michelin-star restaurant. Booking in advance is required.
