On a clear day and evening you can see PEI in the distance. Arisaig, where lobster fishermen fish out of and where you can buy fresh lobster during lobster season in May and June, is only a 7-minute drive away. During the summer months there is a cafe with delicious baked goods and fresh chowder, as well as the lighthouse where you can buy an ice cream cone and take in the scenery and boats from the wharf or Arisaig beach. Nearby is Arisaig Provincial Park.
This is a very quiet neighbourhood where we are about .5 km off the main road, Highway 337. There are some cottagers nearby but as you can t see them it is easy to feel like you are the only one in the area. We are located a quick 20-minute drive from the town of Antigonish with many shops and services and STFX University.
During lobster fishing season in May and June you can watch fishermen pull in their daily catch from the comfort of the deck and throughout the summer, watch boats, kayaks and sailboats. With a large gas bbq and plenty of seating, the deck is designed for al fresco entertaining. Or maybe after a busy day of discovering all that the Sunrise Trail and surrounding area has to offer, you would prefer to sit back and relax with a glass of wine and take in the sunset this area is famous for - make it extra special and watch it from the hot tub!
You will need a car to get around. Our house is a great home base for day trips.
As we are 20 minutes from the town of Antigonish you will want to stock up on groceries, beverages and anything else you need before you arrive. Then relax!!!
The PEI ferry is approximately an hour away and in the other direction you will reach Cape Breton Island in about an hour as well.
Halifax is approximately a two-hour drive.
