"Things I like about the hotel: The restaurant is exceptional. The breakfast while extra is good. The dinner is excellent. The food and desserts are some of the best I’ve had in Portugal. As a luso-American, I know the importance of complimenting your host’s wine, so I will say it is affordable, but I would appreciate different wine options such as one of the excellent Douro region wines or Porto. The staff is very friendly and kind. The location is also good. Areas for improvement: Having been to other four star hotels in Portugal, I have a certain expectation for the condition of the room. But I do not come from wealth, so I also try to be understanding. The hotel is mid-renovation, which is good because it is somewhat dated. The carpet in our room was stained near the door and there was damage on the lower portion of the walls. To be clear, this isn’t an un-nice hotel, but it did not meet my expectations for a four star hotel. The bar was unmanned every time we went in. However, we stayed there over the Republic Day holiday weekend, so there may have been a staffing shortage. Overall not a bad hotel, but it also does not meet my expectations for the price or star rating. A staffed bar and finishing the renovations would assuage my concerns."

"Room let it down. Clean but horrid brown carpets! The hotel however is stunning, in a great location with such history it was fantastic! Breakfast wasn’t great and the egg station was different but a good idea! The waiter with the coffee pot in the morning was my friend, I didn’t finish a cup before he was stopping it up - spot on!"

"Très bien situé mais stationnement payant. Il nous en a coûté 42,50 euros pour deux jours. Pas d’accès en voiture, la marche est nécessaire. Certaines rénovations ne sont pas terminées. Pas de monte-charges ou d’ascenseur pour nos bagages (nous étions au troisième). Nous n’avions pas reçu le code pour entrer à notre arrivée. Nous avons pris un petit café avec nos bagages en attendant les infos dans un resto à proximité."

"Loved this hotel! Very spacious, clean, and close to bus terminal and historical center of Braga! It’s in front of St Barbara garden and it’s very quiet at night. I exchanged few messages with a hotel and the reply was very quick! Highly recommend this hotel!!"

"My room smelled like cigarette smoke the whole time which was gross as it was supposedly a non- smoking property. Also the furniture in the room has stains that made me put a towel on them before I sat down. On the plus side- the staff was very kind and helpful."
