"I booked this stay through Expedia Group (Hotels.com) and ended up paying over $700 per night. Colleagues staying at the same hotel on the same dates who booked directly paid about $400 per night, a difference of roughly $300 per night, or about $1,200 over the 4-night stay.
When I raised the issue, the customer service team was helpful and told me they would negotiate with Expedia to see whether the nightly rate could be reduced. Unfortunately, at check-out I found that no reduction had been granted.
I’m a loyal customer and would like to keep booking through the platform, but a price gap this large makes it hard to trust that I’m getting a fair rate.
For other travelers: compare the platform price with the hotel’s direct rate before you confirm."
