Cottage in Maison Vigneronne le Somail on Canal du Midi 25km from the Mediterranean

Part of a winemaker's house that has been in our family for more than 7 generations, this charming cottage, renovated in 2015, is located on the banks of the Canal du Midi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the charming village of Somail. With its 2 large bedrooms, each with a double bed and a single bed for a child, our cottage is ideal for 2 couples or a family.
This village is home to many restaurants serving local specialties or why not explore one of the 10 Michelin-starred restaurants in the Aude department!
The golden sandy beaches of the Mediterranean are only 25km away, offering in addition to swimming, jet skiing, kite-surfing and sea trips ...
Also discover the new Balneoludic Center in Gruissan or visit the African Reserve in Sigean.
There are a plethora of other activities available nearby: horse riding or cycling along the Canal, boat trips, canoeing, swimming in the Cesse river 2 km away or wine tasting in one of the many cellars. .

Where to start! Location: right alongside the Canal du Midi in a very quiet part of the village - yet only a 2-minute walk to the beautiful village centre. Le Somail is gorgeous. There are so many places to visit - beaches, historical sites, pretty villages, the mountains . . . The gite: wonderful! Full of character, charm and provided with everything you could possibly want. The pretty garden is rich with plants and trees, and has lovely garden furniture. The bedrooms are very spacious with each having an ensuite. The gite is beautifully clean and an excellent size. The host, Nicole: what a truly lovely person. She was always ready to help and so friendly and welcoming. We had a fantastic holiday, and will definitely be returning!

Lovely location and perfect accommodation

A great holiday!

The gite was impeccable, stylish and supplied with every conceivable comfort. Our host was very kind, knowledgeable and great company. Restaurants are within walking distance of the property and river swimming (for the intrepid…) too! There is much to explore with local markets, the coast line and the canal itself. A great holiday!

So Relaxing

An excellent choice. Right by the canal, to spend many happy hours just watching the boats go by. There were only two of us, so plenty of room. Very well equipped for a self catering holiday. Bedrooms are huge, as are the beds, which were very comfortable. Shower rooms large and super clean. Welcome pack amazing, and further items during our stay. Schönes Haus- tolle Umgebung- sehr nette Vermieterin

Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Ferienhaus ist top, alles da, alles sauber und dazu sehr gemütlich. Die Lage direkt am Canal Midi ist wirklich schön, die Baguette morgens gibt es auf einem Boot , die Bücherei - sensationell! Dazu kommt eine sehr, sehr nette und zuvorkommende Vermieterin. Gerne wieder!

Wir sind begeistert

Das Ferienhaus in Le Somail ist eines der besten, das wir je in Südfrankreich besucht haben. Nicole hat uns bei Ankunft mit sehr leckerem Wein, Eiern aus eigener Produktion, Butter etc. ausgestattet und uns freundlich alles im Haus gezeigt. Sie ist in bester Weise eine Gastgeberin, die zur Verfügung steht und uns mit guten Informationen ausstattet, ohne jemals aufdringlich zu werden. Das Haus ist vorzüglich ausgestattet und ist so sauber und ordentlich, wie wir es noch niemals in anderen Unterkünften erlebt haben. Der Standard entspricht auch dem höchsten Anspruch. Die Lage direkt am Kanal mit Blick auf die vielen Hausboote und die romantische Brücke ist perfekt. Im Ort gibt es mehrere Restaurants, man kann zu Fuß eine urige Badestelle im Fluss Cesse erreichen, an der der Canal du Midi über den Fluss mit einem Viadukt geführt wird. Wir konnten auch Tage im Haus und fußläufiger Umgebung verbringen, ohne einen Ausflug mit dem Auto zu den vielen Sehenswürdigkeiten der Region zu unternehmen. Nicole hat auch zwei 1er Kajaks, mit denen man wunderbar über den Kanal gleiten kann. Wir kommen wieder :)

Urlaub direkt am Kanal du Midi

Wir hatten eine wundervolle Woche in der schönen Unterkunft von Nicole direkt am Kanal mit Blick auf die berühmte Brücke von le Somail. Nicole war eine fürsorgliche und verlässliche Gastgeberin. Sie hat uns gut versorgt und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Immer wieder eine Reise wert

Wir waren dieses Jahr schon zum 2. mal in dieser tollen Unterkunft. Die Lage direkt am Kanal ist wunderschön. Das Haus ist auch bei den vorbei fahrenden Boot ein beliebtes Fotomotiv. Wir klappern gerne Weingüter ab. Das kann man von dort auch sehr gut tun. Eine Woche ist fast zu kurz.

Ein traumhafter Aufenthalt an einem zauberhaften Ort

Wir hatten das Vergnügen, drei Wochen lang in diesem wunderschönen Ferienhaus zu verweilen, das zu den besten gehört, in denen wir je waren. Nicole Mouls hat hier wirklich ein Juwel geschaffen, das all unsere Erwartungen übertroffen hat. Das Ferienhaus ist ein liebevoll restauriertes historisches Gebäude, das seinen ursprünglichen Charme bewahrt hat. Die Aufteilung der Räume ist durchdacht und geräumig, und die Lage direkt am Canal du Midi verleiht dem Aufenthalt eine besondere Atmosphäre. Die Zimmergröße war perfekt, und der Garten war ein echtes Highlight. Nicole hat sich hervorragend um uns gekümmert. Ihre Tipps für lokale Sehenswürdigkeiten und Restaurants waren äußerst hilfreich und haben unseren Aufenthalt bereichert. Sie war immer ansprechbar und aufmerksam, ohne aufdringlich zu sein. Wir fühlten uns von Anfang an herzlich willkommen. Das Frühstück auf der Terrasse war ein tägliches Highlight. Mit Blick auf den Canal du Midi und die wunderschöne Umgebung genossen wir unsere Mahlzeiten in vollen Zügen. Es gibt keinen besseren Weg, den Tag zu beginnen. Nicole überraschte uns regelmäßig mit frischen Eiern von ihren Hühnern, die das Frühstück zu etwas Besonderem machten. Außerdem erhielten wir immer wieder eine Flasche Wein um unsere Abende zu versüßen. Diese persönlichen Gesten zeugen von Nicoles außergewöhnlicher Gastfreundschaft. Wir können dieses Ferienhaus uneingeschränkt empfehlen! Vielen Dank, Nicole, für diesen unvergesslichen Aufenthalt.

Perfekt für den Familienurlaub

Sehr gepflegtes, ruhig gelegenes Ferienhaus in eine, ehemaligen Weingut. Die Besitzerin ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Die Lage ist perfekt für einen abwechslungsreichen Urlaub, viele Sehenswürdigkeiten, Städte und auch Strände sind mit dem Auto in 30min erreichbar.

Im Süden zu Hause

Das zauberhafte Haus direkt am Canal du Midi hat uns unglaublich gut gefallen. Liebevoll eingerichtet. Es ist alles da, was man braucht. Die Vermieterin ist unglaublich sympathisch und zugewandt. Ob es Tipps für Ausflüge oder Eier von den eigenen Hühnern sind, die Flasche Wein zum Empfang und zwischendurch. Man merkt einfach, wie gern sie Gastgeberin ist. In dem kleinen Ort gibt es viele verschiedene Restaurants, man kann am Kanal spazieren oder Ausflüge in die Umgebung machen.

Une parenthèse enchantée

Séjour incroyable dans un village qui a su garder son âme. Une vraie bulle d'air, paisible et magnifique. La maison est sans doute la plus belle du village et le confort ferait rougir des hôtels 4*. Mais l'atout de cette maison c est avant tout Nicole, hôtesse discrète et pleine de petites attentions au quotidien. Une petite fée qui s'occupe de votre bien être sans jamais vous déranger. Merci Nicole pour votre gentillesse et votre douceur, notre séjour a été reposant et ressourçant, nous reviendront vous voir.

This is the perfect location, particularly if you have dogs, come out of the house turn left and you are on the canal path. The village is a 2 minute walk away with a selection of restaurants. The house was really lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Can’t recommend it highly enough.
