"It’s clear that this hotel has been recently and thoughtfully upgraded. It’s in a great location for everything in Grand Marais as well as close to several hiking trails. The room was clean and it’s clear that the staff cares. There are a few finishing touches that I would recommend to make this place amazing: A privacy latch on the exterior door that guests can secure once inside, a hook for the hand towel, a couple of hooks inside the bathroom for towels or clothing, trim-holes filled and painted, and a picture or piece of art on the wall so it doesn’t feel quite so sterile. My guess is that with all that has been done so well, these things are planned but just not yet finished. I would stay here again and recommend it to others. I wish them the very best."

"Very cool cozy place. I actually think the description of the property left off some nice details...unique beam construction, etc. Fabulous location with short walk anywhere in town. Great communication and a nice guest book with recommendations on hiking and places to dine out, etc. We would definetly stay here again next time!"

"The Studio was so cool! Cozy, but equipped with just what you need, and great little fireplace! We are so appreciative that pets are allowed! Really nice, it seems people have been considerate and respected the property and taken the proper steps to preserve it. It's really helpful of the host to provide the towels for dirty feet and sheets for furniture protection (we also brought some of our own). The setup with the shower room separate from the bathroom is so helpful and practical."

"The bunkhouse was great! Looked exactly like the pictures, was very clean and comfortable, great lighting, and beautiful star gazing at night! My partner and I had a wonderful weekend stay and would definitely come back."

"Clean, basic stay. Staff was friendly but failed to mention the spa and sauna were out of order when we checked it, that was a bummer to find out. A bit dated but it's clean and the continental breakfast was a bonus. Would stay again."

"Biggest drawback was the price - at least 40% higher than it should be, if not more. Very disappointed in what we experienced for what we paid. The “vision” of the the place and the intent is higher than the execution. Maybe if was better whenever it first opened. The online photos are way more appealing and attractive than the actual unit. The decor — quaint and rustic - it’s fine. There was a huge (definitely not needed) portable A/C unit right inside the door, along with a portable oil heater, taking up a lot of space. Light switch by the sofa inoperative — cord has to be plugged and unplugged to turn on. Kitchen was good, applicants ok, dishes/utensils adequate, but the pretty matching table settings are only in the pictures. Items like the ground coffee should to be in original sealed containers, not in refillable ones Bathroom was not good—tub looked really grungy, with stained and mildewed grout and caulking. Definitely not one I’d like to take a bubble bath in. We had texted earlier in the afternoon the day we checked in (“text us anytime! we’re available) and never received any response. Overall what I would expect if priced at a “budget rate,” not at the highest of what we paid over an entire week and a half trip."

"If you want to experience Grand Marais and the surrounding area then this is a great spot to be. The Hosts were awesome and it is certainly a plus to be able to walk from this location to anywhere in Grand Marais. We have stayed at this home before and it meets all our travel and relaxation needs. Fifty feet out the front door and you're looking at the lake! We don't come to the north shore to remain indoors but at the end of a fun filled day this is a great place to kick back. 5 Stars!!!"
