First time staying in Grand Marais, perfect cabin for our trip and great little town with food and entertainment. Cabin has amazing views of lake superior. Ride from the cabin to the trail system and into town. Kim reached out, communicated and accommodated our needs perfectly. Break wall in town for amazing breakfast and lake superior brewing for nice dinner, beverages and entertainment!
This vacation home was in a great location, close to town & the lake. It was a quiet & comfortable retreat. Kim (host) was accommodating in every way; she was sooo helpful to see we experienced the area to is fullest.
The perfect spot to relax and enjoy the Upper Peninsula. Beautiful views, well equipped kitchen and property, close to Pictured Rocks, and the town if Grand Marias is within walking distance. We had a really great stay - thanks for all the recommendations, Kim!
The property was clean and cozy. It was supplied well so we didn’t have to worry about restocking. A great place to relax and use as a base to explore the UP. Kim’s suggestions about the area proved to be very helpful.
Convenient location & great views of the harbor & Lake Superior - walk to the quaint small town for food, ice cream, local museums, charming art gallery - Sandy beaches nearby - great rock hunting ! The property is roomy, the house is comfy, clean & private - we would return
Kim is an awesome host -- this home has everything you need and she is always available to answer questions and provide recommendations. The home is two-minutes from Grand Marais shops/restaurants and sits atop a bluff in a secluded spot. We had a great time.
Had a fantastic stay! The house was great. The view was fabulous. Kim was extremely helpful and prompt answering our questions. Highly recommend for a 3 generation stay. Loved it!
We couldn't have asked for a better location for our stay in Grand Marais. The home was clean and spacious with plenty of room in the kitchen and living room. I don't think i will forget our view overlooking the bay and lake superior, its beautiful.
Kim was an exceptional host and went out of her way throughout the week updating us on any and all events happening not only in town but surrounding areas.
On our next visit we will definitely come here again.
We especially appreciated the heads up the day we got there with the fireworks, they were cancelled the day before and the view was amazing!
We had a great stay. Charming cabin up in the woods with a great view. Owner was very responsive and helpful. Wifi would have been helpful for checking in on work as most places in town weren’t reliable for wifi or open the right hours.
Very clean, well kept collage with great view of the bay. Lots of deer in the yard. Easy to go down the hill to town. Lots of room for parking trailers for snowmobiling.
Although there was no snow, Kim gave us a lot of suggestions on things to do and sights to see. The home is clean, warm and welcoming. The property was set up well for trailers and our toys! Trails were very close and we were able to ride out of her house with the quads and side by side each day! The town of grand marais was super friendly to us as well. Great trip!!
Each year our family chooses a different place in Michigan to visit & explore. This year we chose Grand Marais as a central point & then drive to different points of interest. This property was perfect for our family. We enjoyed the view from the deck overlooking Grand Marais, relaxed by a bonfire each night & the overall comfort of the home. The property owner was very easy to work with & offered several suggestions & recommendations for things to do in the area. We would definitely like to return!
The view from the cabin was incredible. The location was perfect, close to downtown Grand Marais (which is so cute) and between major landmarks like the falls and Pictured Rocks. One thing I didn't read closely enough in the listing was that there was no bathtub which was hard with littles and important to note for future guests. It would also be great to have a grill! I gave cleanliness 4/5 stars because the floors could be vacuumed a bit more and there were some updates/repairs that needed to be done (the couches were torn and some of the blinds were difficult to open/didn't close all the way, the toilet was running in the downstairs bathroom.) These details were small compared to the beautiful location and kind host. Kim offered us wonderful suggestions on things to do and kept us entertained for the whole week!
Excellent communication with hostess. Kim went above and beyond letting us know of events in surrounding areas, heads up on weather and even arranged assistance when I got stuck in the snow!! Wonderful views of Lake Superior. Very clean. More than ample parking/turn around for trailers. Plenty of beds. Lots of books and blankets to curl up with.
This house was amazing! Very bright and airy, wonderful views of the lake. It was perfect for our family of 6. The kitchen is well equipped and very spacious, and the living area and mud room were fantastic. Grand Marais is such a cute tourist-y town, full of friendly people. Driving to Pictured Rocks area was about an hour, so be ready for that. We spent our time relaxing, hiking, pontooning (Seaberg rentals was great!) You have to stop at the Sherpa Shack (ice cream to DIE for!) and the food & service at Lake Superior Brewing company was awesome! We'd love to come back again some day!
This home and property are truly magnificent. House is very clean and roomy- nice, comfortable beds and furnishings. Loved the unique (probably local?) art placed throughout the house. The property is sprawling and gorgeous- white birch, lovely flowers- so much nature to enjoy. Every morning we’d be greeted by a doe and her two fawn, and so many hummingbirds all day long! Our dog loved her walks and exploring all throughout the property. Oh, and wow this is an excellent place for stargazing!! We found complete serenity and seclusion here, yet 5 min away is downtown GM. Was the perfect getaway for us. Kim is an exceptional host; she’s very welcoming and personable. Communication was excellent. She provided us info on all the restaurants and things to do & see while in town.
Thanks so much for everything, Kim. See you next summer- and hopefully this fall!
Best,
Nancy, Linda and Rakael
,
What a wonderful location! The views from the back of the house were amazing. The pictures do the place justice and give you a good feel for how the house is setup. The location was quiet and felt secluded even though there were houses just on the other sides of the hedge rows. Even on warm days, the house cooled down quickly after dark and the windows were perfectly situated to catch any available breeze.
The one thing that was a bit misleading from the way VRBO sets up the posting was access to Wi-Fi - there is none - so be prepared to use your personal phone as a hotspot and hope that it works. With all the tourists up for July 4th and after, even cell signal was slow so we were mostly disconnected from most apps on the internet. Calls, texts, and email would go through from the upstairs but everything else was too slow and would time out. The host graciously gave us a password for Wi-Fi in town so we were able to connect when absolutely needed - but we wouldn't have brought some of our tech had we known there was no wi-fi at the house. (This was the reason for the 4 of 5 stars on the accuracy of the listing.)
Otherwise, a great place to stay and was a good place to have as basecamp as we explored the Pictured Rocks / Eastern UP area.
