Local Surroundings:
- You are located just 25 minutes from the lively downtown strip of West Jefferson. With plenty of different shops and boutiques to choose from, like Sisters on Main or the Honey Hole, you can find something to pique everyone's interest. Ashe Co. Cheese Factory is one of the most famous attractions in the county, where you can taste test homemade cheeses and even book a tour to watch how the cheeses are made. When you're ready for a bite to eat, head to Craft Bistro in the Old Artists Theater for fine dining. For more casual fare and local brews, check out New River Brewery or Boondocks Restaurant and Brew Haus.
- Bear Haven is roughly 20 minutes away from the rural community of Piney Creek and the highly rated Red Dog Bar & Bistro (which also has a location in downtown WJ!). A little further out, about a 40-minute drive, is the quaint town of Sparta. Here, you'll find all sorts of craft and souvenir shops, such as Sparta Candle Co. and Alleghany Arts & Crafts.
- The historic New River is less than 10 minutes from your cabin and perfect for a day of floating and fishing in the sun. Bring your own canoes, kayaks, and tubes, or rent equipment from one of the nearby local outfitters. Riverside Canoe & Tube Rental is just over 15 minutes away and open seasonally from late spring to early fall (official dates can vary depending on weather).
- Boone is about an hour away, but is well worth the drive. Home to Appalachian State University, this larger college town has an excellent selection of shops and restaurants to fill an entire day trip. Boone is also close to some of the best Blue Ridge Parkway access points, putting you in close proximity to popular sightseeing spots like the Linn Cove Viaduct and the Rough Ridge hiking trail. If you're here during the fall, taking a day to drive up and down the parkway will give you some of the best views of the High Country's famous fall foliage.
- Visiting in the winter? You have to plan a trip up to Appalachian Ski Mountain for a day of fun snowboarding, skiing, snow tubing, and ice skating.

Important Notes:
- Pet Policy: Dogs welcome! Two dog limit, must be leash and crate trained, two years or older, and 45lbs or less. $50 per pet, nonrefundable.
