Here are some of our favorite places to visit:
1. Town of Berkeley Springs (distance from house - 20 to 25 mins): Enjoy this adorable mountain town famous for its natural hot springs that George Washington frequented! The town is home to historic parks, top-notch spas, Michelin-starred restaurants, Sunday farmer’s market, a thriving art scene, and shopping!
2. Cacapon River (private access - distance from house- 1 min) Ideal for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. Private access to the “beach” makes it easy to let kids play! Its calm waters make it suitable for both beginners and experienced water enthusiasts.
3. Paw Paw Tunnel (distance from house - 20 mins): Walk or bike through the historic canal tunnel and scenic trail along the Potomac.
4. Cacapon Resort State Park (distance from house - 50 mins): Just over the mountains, enjoy hiking, biking, fishing, golf, swimming, snow sports, horse-back riding, and more at this stunning State Park. Several trails, including the Cacapon Mountain Trail, offer great views and varying levels of difficulty. The park is also home to an 18-hole golf course, a historic Lodge with excellent dining options, and a swimming pool to enjoy during winter months.
