Four-Bedroom Standard Apartment
Located on Second Roach Pond within 100,000 acres of conserved land, Medawisla Lodge and Cabins is operated by the Appalachian Mountain Club, the country’s oldest recreation and conservation organization. Staying at Medawisla will provide opportunities to hike, bike, ski, fish and paddle out your front door. Your stay supports the AMC’s ongoing conservation efforts.
This shared cabin has a living room, kitchenette and four separate bunkrooms with 4 beds each. The living room contains a table and benches, a futon, and a woodstove. The kitchenette has a small refrigerator, a two-burner stove top and cold running water. Pots, pans, standard utensils and serving ware are provided. A shared bathroom is a short walk away and has hot running water, showers and toilets. A pillow and wool blanket are provided with each bunk, guests need to bring their own linens and towels. Cell service is poor and there is no internet available on campus. Despite electric lights, a headlamp or flashlight is strongly recommended.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included with rental of this cabin. All meals are served in the main lodge which also has a living room which includes a library and small retail store. Breakfast and dinner are served buffet style while lunch is a bag lunch provided immediately after breakfast to take on your adventure for the day. We can accommodate major dietary restrictions.
A shared sauna is available upon request at the main lodge.
The drive to Medawisla Lodge takes you on logging roads which can be difficult to pass after major rain events in early June and late October. GPS can be inaccurate in the region and it is suggested that pay close attention to driving directions provided after making a reservation.
First come, first serve free use of our fleet of paddleboards, canoes and kayaks is included in your stay and can be launched off our boat slip on Second Roach Pond. Paddles and PFDs are provided. A common rocky beach swim area is a short walk from the cabin. If you intend to swim or boat, please bring your own beach towel.
There is a single campfire ring in camp with chairs and a picnic table. Firewood is provided and staff will light the fire upon request.
Our staff is knowledgeable about local recreation opportunities and point you in the right direction for gravel biking adventures, hiking trips, fishing spots, ski tours and great locations to spot local flora and fauna on land and on the water. Natural history presentations are often offered on site as well.
There is a meeting space available to rent if you have a larger group that would like to have a space set aside.
