Shower in room good. Disposable cups in bathroom were dirty so had to bin them. Staff pleasant enough. But on leaving wanted to raise a complaint and as receptionist had only been there a week was unsure how to handle it.
When driving into the grounds the hotel looked lovely. Manager was friendly on arrival and very helpful, but that where it stops, everthing was down hill from there.
Breakfast was sparse and cold, only one member of staff,
Shower looked amazing, but when i went to use it the door fell off in my hand, the shower only ran with cold water, when i went to reception there was nobody to be found.
Apparently there was no other staff on the premises only breakfast staff and cleaner. Who couldnt help any of our problems.
We left disapointed and unable to tell any staff how we felt .

No coordination of staff times for breakfast. Disgraceful family room, dangerous fold down bed...would not meet health and safety checks. Dirty cups, cutlery.....

Hotel was nice although was disappointed. Lack of toilet paper there was only a small bit left on roll in room and had to borrow from 1 family member who had a roll. Not suitable when travelling with children. Was supposed to be a kingsize room but no sofa supplied as it had broken and there was no replacement.
The water was cold so was unable to shower. I had to wash the children and myself quickly with cold water.
There was also no shower gel to wash with supplied
Clean, tidy facilities. Friendly staff. Secluded location. Competitive pricing.
View from window not great but not an issue for us. Chef not expecting us for breakfast due to poor communication (staff busy with wedding venue preparation) but did a good job.

We arrived at the hotel on Friday 5th and received a great welcome apart from being on the system twice and having to prove that payment had been paid on the 30th June. The double room was compact but adequate for our needs with a very comfy bed. Everything was very clean, the only downside being the heat in the room. We went out and returned around 21:30. On getting back to the room we discovered that the shower, whilst being all singing and dancing with separate massage jets, sadly did not work at all! As it was later, we reported this the next morning and were assured that it would be looked at and fixed. We went out again for the day and arrived back around the same time in the evening. We checked the shower and it still did not work. This time my wife went downstairs to get answers and was told that the report had not been passed on. I find this difficult to believe as I witnessed the young lady write down the details of the issue and indeed she went up to the room herself to see if she could help. However, who ever my wife saw, gave her a key for another room on the other side of the hotel where we could shower! In the morning I went to shower first. This shower worked, however the inside piece to lock the room door from the inside, was on the floor. My wife refused to shower within a room she could not lock. Whilst we were packing the case my wife moved the iron in the wardrobe and discovered heart medication which had been left behind by a previous guest.

Lovely hotel bad customer service
So unorganized. I booked 3 rooms and me and my friends were going to a concert at the piece hall. I was told on arrival that I only had 1 room...and basically it was 'tough luck' as they were overbooked and couldn't do anything about it. The lady in charge was actually quite aggressive about it even though it was clearly them at fault. Eventually it turned out that I did have 3 rooms...they just couldn't find it on the system. One of our guests who was in a room on his own got asked to bunk up in our room....when he declined he got bumped down to a single room. With no refund after he'd payed for a double room that they then sold to another unfortunate couple who didn't have a room. Wasn't particularly bothered about a refund but wasn't happy about them actually profitting from the chaos. Beware the breakfast its actually lovely....compliments to the chef....but a hidden charge as you're only actually entitled to continental breakfast....which was non existent. Bar was closed by 9 on the Saturday.

Arrived and staff were stressed. Expedia had over booked, too many people and no rooms. we could have had a room but not the one we wanted. Not the hotels fault but Expedia's. We made other plans and allowed the hotel to give our room to someone else. Staff were grateful, almost in tears. No issue with the hotel just expedia.co.uk messed up

I arrived at this property after travelling some distance with my son to be informed our rooms were not booked. The hotel staff advised that they only have 11 rooms and Expedia had overbooked by 30. The hotel had advised Expedia but nothing was done. There was a large number of people at reception in the same situation. No hotels were available in Halifax and we had to cancel our Virgin F1 simulator experience and travel back to Preston to find a room for the night. We than had to purchase new rail tickets the next morning as our itinery had now changed. I incurred considerable costs in this journey which were all wasted, had I known there was any doubt we would have not travelled. I am quite stunned that a Company such as Expedia could make such a complete mess in such an offhand callous way without listening to the feedback from the Hotel. I would like compensation for the expense I incurred for no reason and await your reply

The staff were ever so helpful. The room was very nice, clean and very quiet. The bar area isn’t as appealing as you’d expect but if you go into the conservatory it’s a lot nice. I would visit again if in the area.
Generally we enjoyed the hotel. The staff are lovely and the premises are clean. Part refurbished and I’m sure the rest is being modernised. Breakfast was lovely. Only negative points was the constant hot only shower which I’m sure they will fix and the route some satellite navigation systems will take you to get there which can go through some very rough roads and sadly caused a fair amount of damage to my car. Make sure you look up the route before driving in.

The experience from arriving was terrible there was no one on reception and when they did arrive couldnt find the keys to our room. The shower didnt work and we paid extra for a cooked breakfast which we didnt get.The bar was dry by 9.15pm with people going to the shop for more supplies this was a wedding so they should have been stocked up. Wedding guests having to help behind the bar and hotel not having enough food to cater for the guests.
I booked 2 rooms back in April for a weekend in June with my husband and 3 children. I was informed by email the NIGHT BEFORE we were due to stay that they had cancelled our booking, and they 'apologised for the inconvenience'. Very unhappy with the extremely short notice cancellation and the reason for cancellation was not explained properly.
Staff were friendly..the hotel was very clean .. thanks to their efficient housekeeper.. only draw back was the wheelchair access.. but that was addressed and improvements are happening
Room a good size bed very comfy breakfast very good, WiFi a bit hit & miss, shower water pressure keep dropping off told that plumbing going to be fixed as new owners have only just taken over.
Over all very good staff very friendly and helpful.
The staff were very friendly. The meals were e excellent.

Stayed here for a night visiting my partners family, was really happy when we got into the room as it was beautiful, it looked really nice and well presented... I was unhappy when I then took a shower ready to go out for the evening. Shower head didn’t fit into the holder correctly so it kept falling down and facing the floor, then once I got in the shower it was scolding hot not matter how I changed the tempatuee this didn’t change and after playing around with it for a while... after being burned I ended up have to use the shower head in the bath to wash my body and hair which was not ideal considering how long my hair is and he fact that we were now in a massive rush to get ready and out. The bed was a lovely size but not very comfortable and the pillows were rock hard.
We went down for breakfast in the morning, once we finally saw somebody to order our food it was just chaos, there was only the chef and cleaner there and although the food was lovely they didn’t actually really knew what they were doing so the got by the best they could. When I went to check out I had to walk around looking for staffed (who looked liked she turned up massively late!) when I finally found her I then had to pay for the breakfast which was not stated to us when we ordered otherwise I would have left it.
Overall nice hotel but I think they have a lot of work to do to make it better, it’s a shame as the room was so lovely and we were looking forward to staying there
