Hotel was charming. We stayed on first floor and as there was no air conditioning, we could not open the window for air for security reasons. But the room was very nice and large, bathroom was big and beds were comfortable.

Stayed at the Engel for the Simple Minds concert at the Barclays Arena Hamburg (great concert!). The hotel and staff are great and a quite nights sleep. The Papilon resturant attached to the Hotel is also great! Pubic transport (Bus) into Hamburg City centre is a 10 metre walk and a Taxi around 18 Euro.

The receptionists were very patient and accommodating with me as a foreigner who’s first time it was in Hamburg. Everyone from the staff to the cleaners were all nice and pleasant and I truly would recommend if it’s your first time coming to Hamburg to stay at this hotel; I know I will next time I come back Danke and Bis bal Hotel Engel.

One of the staff members was very nice, going above and beyond to fix a small issue. Someone delivered flowers to me and it went to the wrong room at first, so they gave me a complimentary wine.

This is a nice hotel with generally comfortable rooms. The service at the desk was good with the exception of one person on duty in the evening who was not very helpful. There were two deficiencies to our room: no curtains for one window to block the early morning light and no power outlets next to the beds for our cpap machines. Otherwise, we had a good stay.

Safe area. Need a short stay. The main entrance is further down on the building but otherwise easy to find. The hotel has an agreement with a local gym so you can exercise for 10 euro if you need to.

Bad start!

Bad start! No AC on a very hot week window only opened 2” due to a bar across it restricting itfrom opening, WiFi did not connect too far from router. No kettle in room can only purchase coffee from hotel at €3! Asked reception for a fan and told no! Explained we were told room had WiFi and need it to do some work. They said it does reach them rooms! We asked for and room and eventually got a room nearer the front of hotel. Also they found us a fan But the hotel staff use the area under our window for smoking so we had that drifting into the room! Luxurious rooms with no amenities!
