  • A few kilometres downstream from Lake Taupo the river changes to some rapids for a short distance. When the rapids finish there is a drop which creates a waterfall. It all ends with this scene which is stunning. Only a 30 second walk from the car park to the river this shot was taken about a 5 minute walk further downstream on the main track at sunrise.

  • I would not usually consider a garden a must-see experience, but I am really glad a local told us to visit Hamilton Gardens. The experience of wandering through a maze of hedges that open into perfectly cultivated gardens plucked complete from other countries and other eras was quite possibly the closest I will ever come to feeling like Alice in Wonderland come to life. You never know what magical sight waits around the next bend in the path.

Love the room spacious, clean, must be a super king bed, very comfortable, the location as we went to watch rugby at the FMG Stadium very close within walking distance. Shower was perfect. Just the outside seems there are unsavory persons staying or living at this accomodation, during the early hours can hear an argument possibly drunk people, but went on all night. But will stay again only on the top floor.

Was surprised to see a hot tub, didn't notice it in the booking. It was very spacious. There was a trail of ants on the nightstand, si.ple pest control would resolve. It was simple to check in, staff were friendly, felt bery comfortable

The room itself was lovely comfortable and clean, couldn’t fault it at all. But unfortunately we were kept awake with arguing and yelling by the social/emergency housing people until all hours, which was very frustrating but wasn’t the hotels fault

It was a bit shabby from arrival and it not the room. All a bit tired. The young lady at check in was pleasant and helpful but there is no restaurant or bistro, one of the main reasons we chose this motel at last minute.

Good size room, friendly staff, good location. Bathroom very dated with no exhaust fan, which caused the floor to get very wet causing my wife to slip when getting out of the shower which is located in the bath. too much outside light which made the room too bright at night.

I thought I might have noisy neighbours, but it was really quiet once the evening set in. I appreciated the complimentary Whittakers chocolate slab, the Bueno chocolate bar, the mini bag of Rashuns and the Coke can... It was moments like that where you'd need Mintees, so it was great to also have a few of those waiting for me too. Easy check in and out 😁.
