  • I would not usually consider a garden a must-see experience, but I am really glad a local told us to visit Hamilton Gardens. The experience of wandering through a maze of hedges that open into perfectly cultivated gardens plucked complete from other countries and other eras was quite possibly the closest I will ever come to feeling like Alice in Wonderland come to life. You never know what magical sight waits around the next bend in the path.

  • A few kilometres downstream from Lake Taupo the river changes to some rapids for a short distance. When the rapids finish there is a drop which creates a waterfall. It all ends with this scene which is stunning. Only a 30 second walk from the car park to the river this shot was taken about a 5 minute walk further downstream on the main track at sunrise.

My sis and I enjoyed our stay beds were comfortable, had everything we needed to cook dinner very quiet and had some awesome neighbours. The manager was also a happy happy thank you Cesar Lodge will definitely come again.

Great location

Very friendly and helpful manager/owner. Close to river walks, supermarkets and city CBD. Great location if you were watching a match at the Hamilton Stadium.

The property is under new management. While the facilities are dated, they have recently replaced beds, which were comfortable. It was comfortable and clean. The manager way really helpful and resolved all our requests quickly and professionally.

Owners had a bad tenant in prior that had snook a pet in the room. They were very apologetic, unfortunately the pet had urinated in the kitchen area. Owners did a thorough clean, downside was the strong smell of disinfectant through the night. Sky tv didn’t work, asked owner why and was told there is no remote as it had been stolen. Wifi signal was poor and kept disconnecting. Owners were helpful and it suited our needs, is ok if looking for a one night budget stay.

The rooms smelled of animal faeces, a toilet was not secure to the floor, there was something on a headboard that looked like dried faeces, there was cable ties holding up the shower head. It took a whole can of oust to just make it bearable to stay as we were there for a funeral in hamilton and had limited funds. Everything was out dated and worn or broken. I think they should be shut down!! Need I say more?

Good with some exceptions

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room could have done with a little up dating and maintenance. There was no shelves in the fridge door, so we had less room in the fridge as we had to lay the milk and juice bottles down in the fridge. The kitchen cupboards only had undercoat pain on them and in places the wallpaper was peeling. The room had no wifi, as the wireless didn't reach our room, so we had to stand outside to use our devices. The room was warm and clean and was quiet. We had a good stay, thank you.

I was placed in a room facing the road, which turns out to be a 4-lane highway. The room had no soundproofing so I was kept awake by the sound of heavy trucks and boy racers driving up and down the road for much of the night, which probably accounts for the low price. Other rooms don't face the road and would not have the same problem. The staff were pleasant. The room was clean and spacious, with a dining table and a separate kitchen. The bed was comfortable, and the extra pillows came in useful for covering my head so I could get some sleep.

Perfect for a little family. Has everything you need in a kitchen even the tiniest detail to a bit of salt that was available. Beds were comfy staff were friendly I would defenatly be returning here for another long weekend. Great stay!

Cheap stay for reason!

We were welcomed by friendly staff, however the decour was very dated and people were continually coming and going from the facilities. It served us ok for the purpose just a bed to sleep.

Woke up with red dots on my legs

Awful Smelling room, very old,dirty,poor quality, lots of flies in the room. Rude staff charged 50$ for thirty mins late check out. Don't bring children here!!!

Very Disappointing

Room nothing like the web photos. Listed available items like dvd players not supplied. We got charged extra fees for the children. Not happy at all. Could have booked a different motel for the same price after the extra charges somewhere else.
