Hangzhou is a great retreat from the more cosmopolitan Shanghai or Nanjing. With the rapid urbanization, it is nice to find some old quarters that are worth visiting for a feel of old China. The free Hangzhou museum holds some interesting displays.

Hangzhou has a great transport system throughout the city. Like any city though, it does take a while to get anywhere. So, if you decide to come to Hangzhou and have plans or tickets for anything, plan for transportation to take at minimum 1hour.

Beautiful city! Worth a trip! Highly recommend to download wechat and Alipay. They barely use any cash anymore. For all those restaurants I’ve been to, you need to place orders through scanning table QR codes.
