Cottage on a Private Island in the York River

Enjoy the peace and quiet of a waterfront cottage on the beautiful york river but minutes from historic yorktown, williamsburg, busch gardens and water country usa. For the nature enthusiasts enjoy the beautiful wildlife, including ospreys, egrets, bald eagles and blue herons right in your back yard. Bring your canoe or kayak and navigate the creek or river shore. But if you only need to rest sit in the porch rockers and enjoy the gentle river breezes with spectacular sunrises to the east of the deck and sunsets to the west of the front porch. Come and make your own island memories and savor island life. Amenities include three bedrooms (2 qn, 1 set of bunk beds) 2 full baths. The house comfortably sleeps 6 with the queen sleeper sofa (for 8 guests) in the living room. The cottage is fully equipped with high speed WiFi, steaming you tube tv flat screen tv in the family room. The kitchen is fully furnished with frig, dishwasher, microwave, gas stove/oven and small appliances. If you are interested in fishing the York River, the Gloucester Pt. pier and beach are 3 miles away. Historic Yorktown is 6miles away with a great beach and shopping area with local eateries. Water Country USA and Busch Gardens are within 20 minutes with a lovely parkway drive. Beat the congestion of staying in Va. Beach or Williamsburg and come enjoy peace and quiet as you tour the area or beach it nearby. Pet friendly for one dog per guest stay ( 30 lbs or less) with pet fee. (30.00 per pet per night)

Paradise!

We had a fabulous 3 night stay to explore the Jamestown / Yorktown area - a perfect location. The cottage is in such a beautiful location, surrounded by water, and is the most peaceful place we have ever dtayed in - sitting ourside in the morning with a cup of tea, listening to the birds was just bliss!

Front Row Views of Marsh Life

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. Three generations enjoyed the front row view of marsh life along the river - egrets, herons, osprey, king birds, fiddler crabs, and even a turtle. The cottage is very tidy, comfortable, and well appointed with all the amenities one could ask for. We are looking forward to coming again.

Cozy Cottage with a Scenic View

Cozy island cottage that felt like a home away from home. Ample space for family of 5 and family dogs. Great location - only 15-25 minutes from the historic triangle and Busch Gardens. My family enjoyed fishing off the bridge and playing games in the cottage. We had a great stay!

Wonderful peaceful location

Our family came for a week and loved the peaceful location! There was more than enough room, the kitchen had all the dishes and pans we needed to be able to cook meals, and the deck was perfect for relaxing outside. The whole experience was excellent. Thank you!

It was nice with a beautiful morning view. It had Christmas decorations which was a very nice touch. I appreciated lights being on when we arrived because we arrived very late and that helped. One of the best stocked kitchens I ever rented out.

Perfect Relaxing Family Get Away

We absolutely loved our stay. We came for my mom's 66th birthday- we had six people total (four adults and two children). Every single one of us loved it. The scenery is beautiful, the house is lovely (and very clean), and the hosts are friendly and wonderful. My mom said it was her favorite birthday ever. We hope to come back!

Wonderful views and an enchanting cottage

This is a peaceful, beautiful costal Virginia home that I hope will never change. If you are looking to get away from the modern day stress and hectic life-style, then this is your place to relax and enjoy the scenery. The cottage is in a great location close to the Historic Area of Virginia. We visited Jamestown, Yorktown and Williamsburg. My 15 year old son said he would always remember this special place and that says it all!

Better than Expected

Just book now! The cottage is so much better than the listing pictures. The kitchen, dining and living room open to a beautiful view of the water. There is a second living room where if you want a quiet moment to read or play games you can. We took a walk down the driveway and collected sea glass. It created wonderful memories for our family! Also, there was everything you could possibly need in the kitchen to make it feel like home. Would definitely recommend

Peaceful getaway!

This place was perfect for me, my husband and two adult friends. The views from the kitchen and family room are beautiful and peaceful. The kitchen was well stocked, the gas fireplace worked and the hosts were very good at communicating with us. We had no issues and would highly recommend this home. Thanks Mike and Donna!!

Peaceful island cottage

Sweet little cottage with peaceful unobstructed water view. Loved sitting in the family room looking out the wall of windows. Plentiful kitchen amenities. Loved various art, photographs and Xmas decorations. Worlds apart but close to Williamsburg and Yorktown. Much needed escape. Thank you!

Family-friendly scenic island stay

The cottage is a treasure and the island is beautiful. Wonderful views of herons and other wildlife always outside the back windows! Our family of six (including four teenage boys) stayed comfortably at the house. It felt like borrowing a friend's well-stocked vacation home. Plenty of kitchen gear and dishes for cooking (which we used several nights). Things to consider: to access the Gloucester Point area, you must cross a draw bridge. It is a cool bridge to cross, but every time you go into Gloucester, you must pay a 2 toll. Also, you can be delayed if a ship is crossing. We had to wait 15-20 minutes one morning on our way to Williamsburg. Also, the property is well-decorated and cozy, but not brand new, and has a few quirks. We had some small ants in the kitchen, but the hosts had some bait traps out. Overall, I would highly recommend this unique stay if you are coming to the area!

Pets allowed is important

The cottage was clean and comfortable, as were the beds. My friend and our respective pups had a nice walk down to the main house/pier and around the small island. The high tides made coming and going over the wooden bridge a little dicey but it didn't present a problem. Communication with the host was a breeze even though they were out of town at the time. Watching the herons and egrets in the marshes was an additional treat. I'd highly recommend the cottage and the location.

Quaint, quiet, relaxing, fully stocked private cottage with awesome views!

There were 4 seniors staying in this spacious cottage nestled on an island off the York River. It's close to Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown. Donna & Mike were wonderful communicating with us during our stay especially informing us of the high tides that came in during the storm and covered the property but not the cottage! The views from the spacious kitchen, family room and deck were awesome especially the sunrise! Their suggestions for eating out were right on! Next time we are in the area we will definately want to stay here. Thanks Donna & Mike for all your help and suggestions!

Multi-generational Family Getaway

We originally had big plans to visit all of the historical sites during our stay, but the weather changed our plans for us so we spent most of our week at the cottage. It wound up being the best surprise, the setting was so peaceful! We went on nature walks, played board games, and our boys got to learn how to fish with their grandfather. The cottage was so cozy and well-stocked, it felt like staying with friends. Donna and Mike were so friendly, they were kind enough to let us fish from their private dock which was SUCH a cool experience for our boys. We built a lot of great memories this week and look forward to coming back. Thank you so much for sharing your slice of paradise with us!
