Nestled in the National Forest, just minutes from downtown
For a MUCH lower price and to avoid common Vrbo technical problems, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND booking through the other leading short-term rental platform, a b and b. The Montana experience. Nestled in the Helena National Forest, but just minutes from downtown. Watch deer, elk and an occasional moose wander through the open yard as you sip your morning coffee, listening to the crackle of the wood burning stove. Or relax in the hot tub gazing at the dark starry skies between the aspens and pines. Spread out in the spacious kitchen or chill outside around the firepit with the smell of the Trager smoker grill going in the background.
If you need to pop into town, you can be in the center of Helen within 10 minutes.
Prickly Pear hiking trail system within walking distance from the house. Mountain biking trails just a short ride away. Public land within minutes for great hiking, camping, hunting and fishing.
In the summer, its about 5-10 degrees cooler than the sweltering valley and has plenty of shade. In the winter, the forests and mountains are frosted with snow - but the roads are plowed regularly.
The house sleeps 9 in beds, 1 on downstairs sofa. The sofa is not a sofa bed. One of the beds is a twin trundle bed that is not made up in advance because it will not fit under the bed when made up.
Indoor dining space for up to 8 at the dining table and 2 at the kitchen counter. Outdoor dining space for up to 8 at a time June through October.
There is room on the driveway for 3 compact cars parked front-to-back on the far right side of the driveway only. Please do not park in front of the detached garage. The driveway in front of the detached garage is reserved for full-time residents of the detached guest house above the garage.
Your stay will include exclusive access to the whole house, patio and hot tub. Yard is a shared space. Hot tub is available April through October.
Note that the neighboring detached garage and guesthouse are rented by long-term tenants. Other than parking on the driveway on the side nearest the house, please keep your distance from the garage/guesthouse out of respect for their peace and quiet. Note also that these tenants are not hosts and cannot help you during your stay. If you need anything please contact your host directly.
Along with the magic of being located in a small, canyon village in the wilderness, there are also some other things that come along with the charm. Such as inconsistent mobile phone reception, internet service could be affected by storms, downed trees, etc. And of course the wilderness includes animals big and small. Keep your distance from wildlife if it visits. Keep trash indoors and doors and windows without screens closed.

We enjoyed our stay at this property. Perfect house for families seeking a relaxing getaway. Easy access to the property and easy communication with the owner. Lovely house! We highly recommend it!
The house and property were exactly as pictured. We were in town for a wedding so didn't get a chance to take in the hot tub or do some grilling but the fully stocked kitchen, comfy living room and the rockingchairs on the porch were a welcomed sight. Host was great to work with and even accomodated an early check in.
Would stay there again!
This house is a gem! It gives you the feel of being out in the woods while still being close to town. It had everything we needed to be comfortable for our stay. Comfy beds! It was raining so we didn't get a chance to enjoy the beautiful outdoor patio or hot tub.
We would defintely stay again!
We had a great stay and loved the property. Very clean and well thought out. Had everything we needed. We did have one issue and the owner responded quickly and was able to resolve the issue.
Home was perfect. 7 adults, a 17 year old and a 12 year old, all which slept comfortably. The location was absolutely perfect for us. We hope to be back next year.
There were hangers and construction materials strewn about in the lower bedroom. The posting says it sleeps 12 but the owner later communicated that it doesn’t actually sleep that many. The property pictures and instructions I received the day before the stay included information for using the hot tub. When asked about its functionality, I received no response. I later talked to the owner and the hot tub had been drained and winterized and could not be used. Property manager also communicated that the outdoor fire pit that is pictured in the ad could not be used. There is a permanent tenant that was confrontational about parking logistics. There is low water pressure in the house and at times no water flowed from the faucet. Ultimately, the property owner was passive aggressive instead of solution oriented and failed to take responsibility for remedying the difference between the advertisement and the reality of the rental. There is limited cell service which made communicating around the property issues even more difficult. If this continues to be rental, there should be more clarity around the capacity of the rental. The owner alleged that we violated the rental agreement by having a “party” when we had less than the number of people that the rental was advertise for If the rental is advertised for (12).
