"This is a nice hotel right in the middle of town. It is about two minutes from the James Herriot house and all the shops and restaurants. The only problem is there is no lift (elevator) and you will have to carry your own bags up the steep stairs to your room. (There are no rooms on the ground floor). The staff does not volunteer to help you with your bags, so be prepared to lug them up yourself. The breakfast was very nice (and they have a vegan option), plus there is a bar and restaurant on the premises. The parking is directly behind the property in a private lot. The staff were very friendly. "

Gracie explained everything to us and did everything she could to give us a perfect experience. Gracie's service made what would have been a very stressful travel situation into something pleasant and comfortable and we had a great time staying at the Old Lodge!"

"I had a very good night sleep at this hotel. It is in a quite street, far from any noise. It is not conveniente for someone who is not driving. The bed was very cosy, the room has a good size. There is coffee and tea in the room. This is a place to sit outside and relax. "
