"Customer service was excellent, and the grounds were clean, modern, and aesthetically pleasing—the scent throughout the property was especially memorable.
My only concern was the pool ambiance. It was completely silent at first. I was sitting by the bar and noticed three separate guests—who were not together—come up at different times to request music. Only then did staff put on low-volume American music. Even after that, the atmosphere remained flat—guests still commented that it was boring. This felt like a missed opportunity. Too often, hotels default to generic, Western music in an effort to appeal to tourists, but in doing so, they lose the identity of the country they’re in. This Marriott felt like it could have been anywhere in the world—why be so generic?
In the Dominican Republic, music is a central part of the culture and daily life. Incorporating Dominican music at the pool would create a more authentic, vibrant atmosphere and enhance the overall guest experience.
