I grew up coming to Hibbing as a child and was so happy to stay at this cabin. The accomodations were clean and comfortable and the lake so clear and beautiful.

Treasured family traditionThis was my 5th time staying at the Bensons' cabin. As always, it was amazing. We live only a half hour or so away, but don't have our own lake place. Our annual stay at Clearwater provides us many northern Minnesota lake memories. We especially love rowing and stand up paddle boarding, and my girls have really gotten into fishing the past couple of years (this time my older daughter added a nice bass to our sheetpan seafood "boil"). As I've stated in my previous reviews, the cabin in tidy, needs are provided for, and I love the decor. Communication has always been responsive. We'll be back next year!

Beautiful cabin on a peaceful lake

A north woods cabin located on a quiet and remote lake? Yes, please! Clean and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. Games, blankets and a fireplace add to the cozy feel. Host communication was prompt and helpful.

Very comfy cabin

The cabin is very comfortable and well appointed. The setting by the lake is lovely and we enjoyed a bug free evening by the firepit! The weekend we were there (late august), the potable water had a very strong smell to it that was hard to ignore even a while after showering. Fortunately, the fridge had two gallons of fresh water for coffee and drinking. You might want to bring more water if you plan on cooking or using more.

Lovely lakeside property

Most tastefully decorated property I've seen in the area. Very nice furnishings. Lodge without being overt and tacky. Sandy beach. Paddleboard was hours of entertainment (first time for 9 y/o daughter and myself)! Enjoyed the row boat a lot, also. Good tv options for rainy days in addition to board games. Proximity to Side Lake dining, McCarthy, etc. We are Iron Rangers without lake property so rent a cabin for a week each year - I am booking next year now!

Great place in the woods to relax and unwind.

Lovely cabin and property exactly as pictured online. Place is set in with other cabins nearby, but neighbors were extremely quiet day and night. Beautiful sunrises on the lake and decent stargazing at night. We did not fish. Taking walks up the gravel road was nice but no trails to explore. You will have to go to nearby parks for that. Great stove to cook on as well as cookware and dishes and basic cooking supplies provided. My son and I slept well on the queen bed for me and the top bunk bed for him. Could definitely see there is plenty of room for at least 4 people here.

Great Stay!

We had a great 2 night stay at the cabin. The weather could not have been more perfect, the lake was calm and clear and fishing was great. The mosquitoes were horrible, but a nice campfire and some spray kept them manageable. The cabin was clean, spacious and well stocked. There wasn't anything that we were wishing had been included, it was all there. The sand shovels and buckets, paddle board, extra portable chairs, and firewood were all nice surprises. The beds were comfy and the portable fans in the rooms (we use them for white noise) were welcomed! The cabin was even better than the photos, and one of the nice features was the separate living room area with tv, toys, games, high top table....and a door! Perfect for the mornings and evenings to let kids sleep in or go to bed early, or watch TV without disrupting the others. Thanks for a great stay!

Nice place, some minor improvements would make it even better!

We enjoyed our stay on a serene winter lake. A few winterizing efforts would have made it a bit cozier (window treatments, weather stripping on front door). And while the gas fireplace eventually made it toasty, it took over 24 hours (it got to -23 overnight - so it really had to work as the house was about 50 when we arrived). It may be worth allowing the radiant floor heating to be turned up the first 24 hours if forecasted temps are going to be below zero upon arrival. Comfy furniture and beds, well stocked kitchen (bring coarse ground coffee for the coffee press!). Communication was great -owners were very helpful in responding to the frozen pipe issue, which did eventually resolve. Loved that the deer ate from the feeding spot (although they are smart and only come around if they think no ones home!) Overall a great home base for our winter outings.

Cute cabin on quiet lake. The only problem was that it could have been cleaned better. There was a dirty sock on the floor and parts of the rooms that looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in a long while.

Fantastic get away

We had a great time with our two young children and will be back next year! The property is beautiful and very peaceful with modern amenities. The only small issues were the lack of curtains and the sulfur smell from the well water. Thanks for having us!

Pull up a chair

My husband and I wanted time away from Dallas and to visit family in Minnesota. This property was everything we needed and more. Sitting on the dock - with or without a fishing pole was amazing.

Relaxing get away

Late Oct 2024 Karen was so nice and gave us very accurate information on hiking areas nearby. It was also easy to check in. The cabin was cute and clean. We spent a lot of time by the fireplace while enjoying the view of the lake. The kitchen was fully stacked. Was even provided fresh water, coal for the grill, and firewood for the pit. We would definitely stay again.

Another great week at Clearwater Lake

This was our 4th year staying at the Bensons'. It has turned into a treasured family tradition. We live only about 40 minutes away but don't have a lake property in the family. Our annual week on Clearwater allows us to do all of the classic Minnesota summer things - rowing, paddleboarding, swimming, fishing, and campfires, plus the convenience of home! So grateful you're willing to share your place with us!

Cabin weekend

We thought staying in a cabin vs hotel would be nice this trip. Cabin space was nice, second bedroom would be difficult for two or three to stay in. We didn’t use the kitchen or any outdoor amenities of property ( due to thick mosquitoes!). Communication and check in were very efficient made easy. I wish we would have known that they requested you take military showers as we had planned on having 4 guests… this would have created an issue. The cabin was not very clean. Lots of cobwebs and hair all over the sheets .. I wasn’t sure they were clean. No streaming device or DVD player for use. Overall nice for our use but the cleanliness was unfortunate.

Peaceful cabin and neighborhood

Enjoyed the cabin experience. Lake was beautiful and if into fishing the pike were biting even late into the season as we were. Owner allowed us to use our own trolling motor on the row boat which made going around the lake more enjoyable. Easy access to great off road vehicle trails where we were able to enjoy multiple wildlife species. Satelite/Wifi access was easy and worked well. Proximity to additional mining/tourist attractions was also a plus for us. Our only negative comment is that the mattress for master bedroom though clean, felt like it was getting tired and should be replaced. Overall we enjoyed our experience and would highly recommend this rental if you are looking for quiet getaway.
