We rented Golf cottage for a four-night stay. A simple on-line booking followed by a telephone conversation with the owner and we were all set. In a quiet location on the edge of town, Golf cottage is close to many amenities, pubs and restaurants, and of course the beauty of the Peak district.

Lovely cottage in a lovely location, and we loved the Christmas decorations. Recommend the nearby Beehive in Combs for food. Very muddy walk around reservoir and recommend Lyme Park especially if you have dogs with you. Would have been good to have local places where we could get logs as central heating not sufficient downstairs in winter, but we did locate an Aldi who had them. Would definitely return if come back to Derbyshire.

Lovely cottage, only downside was proximity to a busy road, not an issue if I hadn’t had my dog with us as there was no access to an enclosed space for his toilet use and he struggles to ‘go’ on the lead. Only downside though! One thing that really impressed me was the care that was taken to make the cottage feel homely, lots of attention paid to making this feel so. We all felt very comfortable, warm and cosy, my grandsons especially! Thank you x

Wow! What can we say. Stayed 3 nights at this lovely cottage for my birthday and had the best time. We took our dog with us and she settled in just like she was at home. The cottage overall has everything you need for a pleasant stay. Plenty of room to put luggage out of the way and the rooms are decorated to a lovely shabby chic theme. The only thing worth mentioning is the nearby road is very loud and busy but does get you in and out of Chapel very easily. There is a Morrisons supermarket close by and we found 2 takeaways willing to deliver to the cottage should you wish to have a take away. We will be returning very soon and cannot wait. A perfect stay at a perfect cottage and well worth the money for a relaxing trip. We would recommend a trip to Fernilee just down the road to visit the reservoir. It's absolutely stunning!

The Cottage itself is lovely, very well kept, with a nice cosy feel to it. The owner was very quick to respond to any questions we had, and left a nice welcome cake, and lots of information about the local area. We went with a 21 month old and two dogs, so were very busy. It would have made life a-lot easier if a highchair and stair-gate could be provided. Something for the owner to consider providing in the future. Although we were informed before going, we just couldn’t fit everything in the car. The main issue we had (and reading the guestbook, lots of people had) was the difficulty of getting the car out of the parked area provided due to the way the neighbour parks directly where you need to reverse, leading to a very difficult exit procedure. I had to knock (and was ignored despite the fact they were clearly in). In the end I put a note through asking for them to move. Which they did, along with a patronising note back. The parking was such an issue that once we’d been out for the day once, I didn’t want to go out again in the car, it wasn’t worth the hassle. This isn’t the owners fault, and I don’t know what can be done about it. To be honest, I hope someone does smash into his car, would serve him right. The bedroom and living room were very comfy, the kitchen appeared well stocked (we mainly ate out) and the bathroom was clean with a decent enough shower. Overall would recommend the cottage, but wouldn’t go back myself because of the parking.

The cottage was lovely and was furnished in a very nice way. There were not any amenities with in short walking distance other than a farm where we could purchase eggs which was lovely and to be expected. However if you have a car, everything is in close proximity with a 5/10 minute drive to other villages which was handy. My dog enjoyed the local walks, although is a bit to energetic for us to stay in a house without a garden. The house was clean although I was conscious of pet fur on any carpets.

Clean and nicely decorated cottage. I hadn’t realised that there was NO garden whatsoever. No back door - which I gradually got used to during our stay. Great location for exploring the Peak District.

A superb base close to many good walks and near to local amenities. Cottage has everything you need, a little tired in a couple of places but for the price it’s excellent. The only negative would be that it has no garden, but this is made clear.

A fantastic and beautifully decorated little cottage, a parking space with it, everything you need in there, lots of stuff in the kitchen if you want to cook and stay in. The downside of it, although it is dog friendly, I wouldn't recommend it for anyone with a dog that needs to go outside frequently - there is no garden / enclosed outside space at all, so it means taking your dog out on a lead.. Not a big problem for my little dog who can go all night no problem without needing to go out. The the other downside for dog owners - the pub opposite, is NOT dog friendly. This means a 15-20 min walk either to one of the pubs in the town (a mile away) or in the neighbouring village there's a lovely pub, the Beehive in Combs but the walk is also 20 minutes and down a winding road with a 60mph limit... not the best! If you don't have a dog, or don't like to drink, the location is fine.
